Thankful for our little tree. Up there on our banner ~ photographed in early morning light,
with the sun streaming in through the window blinds, it sparkles. And no, I am not
really sitting beside the tree, mine Mommy "put me there", I'm not allowed near.
Then we realized that just like it wasn't a good idea for me to be near our tree,
maybe it wasn't a good idea to have a candle by the tree either.
So in this picture (and yes, she "put me" in this one too) the candle made
way for a little lamp, and colors changed as she photographed in warm evening light.
Purr-haps you notice one other thing in this picture, the little monkey.
Little Monkey has his own story, a tradition if you will. He is very old,
like maybe 75-years old or thereabouts and he is from Germany.
When mine Mommy's Poppy Vic (across his bridge now) was a little boy, he lived there
and his German nanny gave this Little Monkey to him one Christmas.
Poppy Vic always had kitty cats and a kitty cat bit Little Monkey's toe one
morning ~ see his bandaged toe! Oh dear, meowz. That's still the same
old bandage, too, but that is what tradition is.
And mine Mommy told me that she and Poppy always had Little Monkey
on their Christmas tree for years and years.
I've promised not to put a bitey on his other toe.
Meowz.

its a beautiful tree and the monkey is adorable, I have a 60 year old Santa on tiptoe that was my sons first Santa. my tree is even smaller than yours and you are even more adorable than sweet Monkey
ReplyDeleteYour tree is so sparkly and beautiful and we love your monkey and mom has a similar one. Hers is a Steiff named Jocko and he's around 70 years old. Your monkey and mom's monkey look to be about the same size☺
ReplyDeleteYour little tree is lovely! I have one similar, with little lights on it, so there's a cosy glow in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteThe monkey is precious. I have an old Santa in a boot, about as old as I am. Mom would put it out every Christmas and it's the only Christmas decoration I took after she passed. I will continue the tradition for the remainder of my life.
As for candles, I went with LED ones years ago, because of the cats of course, and turn them on all winter. It's too dark and dreary otherwise!
oooh that is koko the monkey... our dad had one and our mama too... :o)
ReplyDeleteReally, really?! That's both wonderful and amazing. I think (maybe) once my husband may have said his name, long and distant in my memory now, and I can no longer ask ... but I shall call him "Koko", thank you ... and I do not think he will object in the least. KOKO it will be ... at his age he deserves a name!
DeleteYour little tree is adorable and what a great story, full of memories with the little monkey. We hope he lives on for many more years.
ReplyDeleteFamily heirlooms, especially during holidays, are so precious.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely little tree and monkey. The monkey has a lot of history and is very precious. How wonderful that the Weims pawrents both had them too, and were able to tell you his name.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect tree for you and your Mommy, and such a lovely history that cute little monkey has!

That's a gorgeous tree, June! And the little monkey sitting there is just darling!
ReplyDeleteI’ll never forget the year that my Furbo recorded my kitty, Goblin, knocking over our Christmas tree! Cats and Christmas trees don’t always go well together! Lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet tradition to keep for so many years. How great that the weim brothers gave you his name too.
ReplyDeleteJune your header in the early light and sparkly is quite beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThe story of Little Monkey made me smile
