The Zoolatry Humans have had to evacuate twice for big hurrycanes.
They can get very noisy and very scary.
In 1995, Hurrycane Erin did bad stuff to their house and
our ZH says she lived with boards and black plastic for 11-months.
I wonder if my friends KARL (04) and PABLO (07) know
they've had hurrycanes named after them.
I wonder if my friends GRACE and VICTOR know that
in 2009 there will be hurrycanes named for them.
I wonder if my friends IRIS (01) and LILY (01) and MARILYN (95) know
that their names have been officially "retired" cause
they were really bad hurrycanes.
The wind has to be at least 74 mph before it can be an official hurrycane.
Hurrycanes have categories: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Five is really bad!
The word hurrycane comes from the name of the Caribbean god of evil, "Huracan".
On the other side of the world they call hurrycanes cyclones.
Hope you won't be affected too much this season. Keep a tight hold of the kitties. Don't want them blown away!

It's really too bad that they've never named a hurricane after ME. Of course, they have named one Bonnie and one Dennis in other years and those are my people.

See that big county right in the middle, underneath Cocoa? That's Polk County. It's where we lived before we moved to Georgia in 2006. We moved mostly because of hurricanes! 2004 was especially nasty to our county. We had 3 years in a row of hurricane damage, although our damage was not nearly as bad as many of Mom's friends. Mom decided she wanted to live further inland and get out of the way! We hope this is a calm year for everyone's sake.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture and I don't think there has been a hurricane called Fazakerley.
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping for a quiet hurricane season this year, too! My Mommie and Daddie hate putting up the hurricane shutters because it takes many hours.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a "Himmie"cane to us! hahahahahahaha!!!! Be safe this season!
ReplyDeleteLaila and Lilly
Oh we hope it is a quiet season for all of you!
ReplyDeleteInteresting facts about the hurricanes. We all have never seen one. Wish you all the best for this season! Take care, girls!
ReplyDeleteYou are so brave to live there! My LL lived in Ft. Lauderdale right after Andrew so she knows first hand how powerful those storms are. Stay safe this season!
ReplyDeleteKaze
