MY MAGGY

It always warms my spirit to look back at images of my Maggy, the beautiful Himalayan tortie point lady who became my heart-cat over years of Florida living. Gentle, quiet, aloof and always independent.  She seemed to have a strong sense of her own beauty, posing willingly for my camera.  Her favorite places our large back porch and the master bathroom, where the ice-block windows gave natural lighting and warmth and I'd often find her napping there, needing to move away all my little "sea creatures" to give her space to stretch out.  When Maggy crossed her rainbow bridge in May 2019, it was only fitting to show her in this special place of hers ~

FELINE FRIDAY with Angel Maggy

Angel Maggy ~ The Magster, Magoo, Mary Margaret, 2003 to 2019

Maggy was our tortie-point Himalayan, with stunning color point markings, and I remember well when it was time for her lady-garden-ectomy, the vet asking, "wouldn't you like to allow her to have at least one litter? her markings are so extraordinary, she's a true beauty for her breed".  But it was not to be.  "Himmies" as they are often called, are a mix of Persian and Siamese.  Her brilliant blue eyes spoke to the Siamese in her, wide open "big eyes" much of the time, narrow and piercing and more to her Siamese side when perturbed!  Her luxurious fur of course from the Persian in her and the colors again harking back to her Siamese heritage.  Her manner, somewhere in between: independent, living life as she choose, gentle and loving only when she wanted to be.  These photos show many of her features: the deep red-orange points on her ear tips which were also on her paws and in her huge tail furs.  On her forehead, what we called the "white star" and her sweet "chocolate and vanilla" chin.  She had the classic flat nose and of course the wide and swirling tail to swish.  Maggy, the magnificent, my heart cat.

MEMORIES of MY MAGGY

One of Angel Maggy's most favorite places in our Florida home was the window ledge in the
master bathroom.  It was warm, bright and sunny ~ yet without harsh sunlight thanks to an
ice block window.  And it was one of my favorite places to photograph her, for the same reasons.
The natural lighting was soft, without glare and no flash was needed and I could capture her
colors and the highlights in her fur.  And she could easily be photographed at different times of
the day, or on days when lighting conditions varied.
Below, some of my favorite images of beautiful Maggy.

MY MAGGY ~ Over Her Rainbow Bridge

Mary Margaret, her given name ~ but lovingly called Maggy, Mags, the Magster, Magoo or MagMags

At sweet sixteen, 2019, she crossed her rainbow bridge.  Born 2003 and adopted 2005.

A pure bred, tortie-point Himalayan with beautiful markings, and she knew it!  She displayed them proudly ~ the white star on her forehead, the gold/orange tipped furs on her ears and paws, the vanilla and chocolate chin, and her brilliant blue eyes, and that fur ~ long, lush, silky.
Never really a lap cat, only seeking affection on her own terms, letting the Siamese in her genealogy come forth, loud and clear when she wanted something, definitely a talker.  Gracious, elegant, independent.  If I were to sing a song of Maggy, I'd sing, "She's A Lady".

In 2013, when I moved from Florida to Maryland, it was with much sadness, that I could not bring Maggy with me for many reasons.  But I was blessed to find a "special angel", a former cat blogger who came forth and accepted her into a new home where she joined other kitties, received care and love and thrived over many years.  I will forever be grateful to this amazing friend who was there for me when I truly needed someone ~ someone warm, caring and loving to entrust my "heart cat" to.
With forever love and thanks to Maggy's "other Mother".

I knew the day would come, some future time, when she would carry the burden of sending sad news
to me ~ and now it has.  Beautiful Maggy has left, crossed her bridge.  It was peaceful.

Rest well my girl, I have always missed you, I have never stopped loving you.

Our blog will remain silent for a few days in memory of Mags.

MISS MAGGY ~ FRIDAY FLASHBACK

Maggy ~ born in 2003, and adopted in 2005.  A truly beautiful tortie-point Himalayan, and I loved her so much, my heart cat you would say.  Maggy was rehomed in 2013 when I moved from Florida to Maryland and I have missed this special girl every day since, even though I know she is in a wonderful and loving place.  I enjoy receiving new photos of her from time to time, and I enjoy looking back through my collection of photos from the years we shared together.  Here, just a few of the Magster ... Magoo ... Mags ... Enjoy!

MEMORIES of MY MAGGY

We've regularly posted "Maggy Monday" photos, but from now on, we'll be posting under the title of "Memories of My Maggy".  But before you think the worst, Maggy has not crossed the bridge ~ not at all.

Though I must report, with some sadness in my heart, that she did not travel to Maryland with me last month, and remains in Florida.  Before I go further though, let me say, it was not a decision easily made ~ but a decision made of necessity.  I miss her terribly, but I knew then, and I know now, that it was the best thing to do (especially for her) and the right thing to do.

She is in a lovely home, with someone who truly loves her very much and treats her like a queen!  There are other kitties and surprisingly to us both, though Maggy and Zoey did not get on well ~ Maggy and her "new house mates" get on very well.  She still can enjoy the Florida sunshine, and warm breezes on another porch, not unlike the one she enjoyed so much at our former home.  She can still chase gecko's and lizards and find endless sunpuddles just as she used to ... her days and nights are much the same as they had been for the many years we shared together.  In truth, though I miss her ~ I don't think she misses me all that much ~ and my heart tells me that is a good thing.  I  am forever grateful to the wonderful and loving friend who so willing took her into her heart and her home.

I have many photos of this beautiful girl, never posted, so will still post my memories of her from time to time, and perhaps even some of the new photos I receive of her as she enjoys her new home!

Above, a favorite all time photo ~ as she is held in the loving hands of Poppy Vic.
