PHOTO HUNT: SPORTS
One of my favorite things to do with Photoshop is to create "memory books". Over the past several years I've done about a dozen of them for family members. And perhaps another half-dozen specialty albums: wedding albums, a promotional album for a cake shop owner, and a memorial album for a young teenager who passed away unexpectedly. I found traditional photo albums somewhat boring, but enjoy holding a book in my hands. Slide shows and 8mm home movies are a thing of the past to me, viewing on a television or computer screen seems to lack personality, the ability to move back and forth, to linger on a image. The process of creating a memory book can be challenging and time consuming, most will take six months or more to design and print the basic forty-pages. All the albums are high resolution prints, in an 8.5 and 11 page size. What is shown here is greatly reduced in size. Most of the pages have a common theme, working in color, borders, type and sometimes a heavily-altered image. The pages below are from some of our family albums and all feature todays "sports" theme... pictures of the grandchildren and other family members involved in sporting activities. Please enjoy!

PHOTO HUNT: WORDS
The ZH has been very excited lately, and doing odd things around the house. She says a new kitteh is coming soon. Well, maybe not meowing kitteh, but rather one of those human "bachcha's". It will be the third grandbean for the ZH, a "chhele" grandbean. The "mata" is her daughter and the "baba" is her son-in-law. "Baba" is from Calcutta, (Kolkata) India. So I thought I should learn some Bengali words, the language spoken in that region. Above are some of the words I am studying. I am a bit worried though, because I have not yet found the word for "cat" or the word for "meow" or the word for "Zoey". Oh, and I guess it's almost time I should start calling the ZH "nani" and I should go tell the Zoolatry Dad he is "dadu".September 26, 2009
PHOTO HUNT: TWISTED
Living on Florida's Space Coast for nearly 20-years has given us the opportunity to view many shuttle launches from KSC and many rocket launches from Cape Canaveral AFS. There were times we were up-close-and-personal, at the KSC Banana River VIP site. Other times we've watched from the beach, from the Indian River, or the dock at our home on Sykes Creek when we lived there. We've seen them at sunrise and sunset, in heat and in cold, daytime and the dark of night. They never fail to amaze. Those of us who live on the Space Coast know the excitement of the space program, NASA and KSC. But we also know it's value, contributions and importance, and hope that NASA will receive sufficient government funding to continue its scientific exploration of our universe. Above, left: About a year ago, we took my Mom, then 95 years old, to a friends high rise condo on the river -- she saw her first ever shuttle launch. The sight of the TWISTED smoke plume is beautiful as the shuttle leaves earth, the sounds are powerful, depending on wind direction there may be smells of fuel or exhaust, the ground will shudder below your feet.
Above, right: It's always fun to spend a day at KSC with my grand daughter. Top: she is TWISTED inside an old space capsule from the moon launch days, the capsules were small and cramped in those days, allowing no movement and the astronaut would be in some TWISTED position for the entire flight. Bottom: simulated weightlessness, just like the astronauts, and you can TWIST and turn at will.

CATWALK CATURDAY and PHOTO HUNT: ELECTRIC
We're on the Catwalk today ~ supporting our friend MISHA for New Zealand's Next Top Cat Model. Please ~ if you haven't yet voted, click and go vote! Purrplease. You might be happy to know I got a "paws up" from Tyra, Tim and Heidi for my runway performance: a girl can never have enough fur, so here I am modeling my fur boa with matching pillbox. It's rather subtle I'll admit, but the designer signature is on the back of my pillbox. And don't you love the way the stylist chose a gold toof ring as the ultimate accessory? As they say in the design world, less is more. Oh, and lest anyone have concerns: my furs are of course quite real and luxurious, the furs I am modeling here however are "faux".September 05, 2009

PHOTO HUNT: RIPPLES
The only time it RIPPLES is when I put my paws in the water to catch a fish.
If my Zavatar puts his paws in the water, it will RIPPLE.
He is not supposed to play in my fish tank. But then neither am I.
The fish are for watching, not catching.

PHOTO HUNT: ARTIFICIAL
This is a photoshopped work of six cats.
Four of these cats are artificial.
Two of these cats are not, they are Maggy and Zoey.

PHOTO HUNT: PAINTED
"with a wink and a tail-wag to Mark Twain"
Once upon a time, in the 1800s, I lived in a little village called
St. Petersburg, in Missouri, on the banks of the Mississippi River.
My cousin was named TomCat Sawyer, and he was known to be the
village "bad cat". At times, I could be mischievous too.
Once when TomCat was especially naughty, our
Aunt PollyPurrs said he had to whitewash the fence as
his punishment. No Temptations for him that day!
But instead, TomCat got together with his really wicked
whiskered friend, HuckFurrocious Finn. They stole an
old dinghy and drifted away down river in search of
feline adventures. I didn't want TomCat to be in more
trouble whenever he came home, so I went off to
Aunt PollyPurrs house to whitewash her fence.
Perhaps I got a bit carried away that day.
But then I am a colorful cat.
I prefer a colorfully painted fence!
