AWWW ~ DOUGIE DOG

Last week was "spring break" around Maryland ... so one day I visited Dougie Dog.
Some may remember him as he was the focus, the star of Zoolatry for many years before
I moved to Baltimore.  From 2013 through early 2020, the photos and stories of Dougie Dog, my granddog,
a beautiful and loving chocolate Lab rescue were told here day after day after day.

Below, he plays with his new FAT CAT "awful mean kitty" toy which he really
enjoyed.  We'd seen DUKE playing with FAT CAT and thought Dougie would like it too,
and he did ... later on we sat in sunshine on the back deck, which
prompted an immediate nap for him ... t'was a fun day to spend with my dear old friend.

THE DOG ON THE DECK

Revisiting summer of 2018 with handsome grand-dog Dougie Dog,
an older boy now but still ready to chase his "Wilson" tossed in the big back yard,
or try to catch a bubble!

THE DAY AFTER THE DAY AFTER

What's a really good way to spend the day after the day after?
For the pet friends out there who might remember DOUGIE DOG ...
well, a great way was to have him curled up on my lap.
The bonus, the grandboy curled up beside us.
And the three of us, well, just cuddling and enjoying being together.

FRIDAY FLASHBACK ~ HELLO, DOUGIE DOG

"When the man waked up, he said,
What is Wild Dog doing here?
And the Woman said,
His name is not Wild Dog anymore,
but First Friend,
because he will be our Friend,
for always and
always and always."
Rudyard Kipling

If you visited Zoolatry over the past many years, you'll have met our wonderful grand dog Dougie Dog!  Though I see him rarely now, he still romps and rolls with his family and my youngest grandboy ~ this lovable and friendly chocolate Lab.  And as this month, often called "the dog days of summer" is coming to a close, we thought why not share some of our favorite photos of him for Flashback Friday! Dougie Dog, sure did and still do ~ LOVE that boy!

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Officially I'm told summer has not yet arrived, but I am so very thankful
for the sun that warms me, gentle breezes across my fur, birds sweetly chirping
and bee's a-buzzing round my head.  I think of Louis Armstrong singing Grandma's
favorite song "It's A Wonderful World".  Oh yes it is.

THANK YOU BRIAN

A HAPPY TUESDAY STORY ~ Put Your Head On My Pillow

There is the story of "Goldilocks and The Three Bears" and there is also the story of "Dougie Dog and The Three Pillows".

I will now tell you the first story.  When Goldie was lost in the woods and came upon the Bears home, she was so very tired.  In the sleeping rooms she tried a big bed, but it was too hard.  And the second bed was just too soft.  But the third bed ~ well, it was just right!

And here is the second story.  In the Dougie Dog home, he loves to sleep with a pillow 'neath his head.  Yet that first pillow was just too small, it was really a play-pillow.  And the second pillow was something called a tempurpedic and oh-my-dog, it was so hard.
But, the third pillow, it was perfect ~ it was just right!

HAPPY TUESDAY

DOUGIE DOG "on the homefront"

I know it's WORDLESS WEDNESDAY (once upon a time there was a Wordy Wednesday) but I just had to say a few things ... so I'll pretend it's a Wordy Day.  Anyway, it's probably not at all pawlitically correct with all the sad and bad stuff going on in the world right now ... but as a dog, I do have to admit that I am a little bit happy to have my whole family home every day.  This stay at home thing is really kind of pawsome for us dogs and cats (dontcha think so all you dogs and cats out there?)  I mean, I'm mostly used to just napping and layin' about all day.  Get up once in awhile for a drink of water.  Go fetch a toy to play with maybe.  Look out the window.  Bark at the mailman, although he's never scared of me anymore.  Bark at that squirrel.  Go nap some more.  Yeah, that was my normal day.  Now though:  humans walk by where I'm napping ... they pat me on the head!  Or give me a hug!  Or say "c'mon Dougie, let's go outside and play ball for awhile".  Sometimes I can follow them out into the kitchen (they are all eating or snacking at different times) and I can beg for a little snack myself ... and OhMyDog, I often get lots of snacks now, all day long!  And all my family is letting me outside to play with Wilson lots more than I used to get to go out, cause the Zoolatry Human always had me on a "schedule".  So, yeah, I know it's awful bad out there and I put my paws together every day that it'll be better soon ... but for us dogs and cats, well, it isn't all that bad, you know.

THANKFUL THURSDAY, Thoughts from Dougie Dog

Dougie Dog here ...

Thursday, March 12  ... we were planning to take a "little, and brief ... blog break ... and this is what we wrote in our posting on that day:

Just to let you know, me and Zoey and the Zoolatry Human are taking a little blog break
for the rest of the month ... except maybe for a couple of special events.
I'll be busy with Wilson ... no doubt Zoey will be napping in sunpuddles and
the ZH, well she just says she has lots of "spring cleaning" to do (whatever that is, I think
she means using this mousy thing to clean up her 'puter)!
Anyway, won't be gone long ... so ... woof woof and meow meow.

Who knew?  We didn't!  You probably didn't either ... the weekend rushed by with lots of news coming forth from the humans TV, and from their computers and their cell phones and by that Monday and ever since it's been a whole new world for all of us.  Now, each and every day ... all the humans are here with me!  I kind of like it, well, at least I'm getting used to it.

I thought at first it might mean a lot more play time, and even a little more "together" time, but that's not happening too much.  The Father is in the study, working all day, almost like he's really gone off to work and the Mother has created an office for herself in the family room and she's doing the same thing.  The only difference with my Mother is I can run downstairs and sometimes she'll let me into the backyard and we'll play Wilson together for a short time (she says she's taking a coffee break, even though she's not drinking coffee!).

Meanwhile, back upstairs the Zoolatry Human (a/k/a Grandma) is pretending she's a 4th grade school teacher!  And her computer is no longer hers!  So she says that "little, and brief blog break" is going to be a lot longer than she thought.  The pawrents have ordered (online, of course) a computer for the boy so he'll have his own, cause his school will have online classes for him in another week or so. But my ZH will still be working alongside him.

So, we're here, we're good ... maybe I can pop-in and say "Woof" once in awhile, Auntie Dee down in Florida says my sisfur Zoey is doing "good", too .... and I hope every other furry (and their humans) are too!

That's me up there, with Wilson.   I know you can't see us too well, but we are "social distancing" in
our backyard.  And below, we're doing the same thing on the back deck!

On this Thankful Thursday we are sending forth our prayers and our purrs and the power of the paw.
We are thankful that our family and friends are in good health at this time.
We pray for all that they remain in good health in the weeks to come.

HAPPY TUESDAY

Who cares if the yard is muddy and dirty?
Not me!
I'm just happy to be out, playing with Wilson ...
who happens to be
muddy and dirty, too!

Happy Tuesday All!

MY PAWS

It's important we all keep our paws very clean,
we do this because we care about one another.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

They might be called "cat naps", but I am a dog, so go figure!  And being a dog, one of the
things I am thankful for is that I can close my eyes and have a little cat-nap just about anywhere,
anytime and any place I want.  Yes, I am very thankful for cat-naps!
