THE CHAIR, A Special Post

Hi, Zoey here. The wonderful people from Hospice delivered a new chair for Great Grandma and of course, I had to try it out. I love all the special toys GG has to play with. Her room has a bed that goes up and down, I wish mine would do that. And there are chairs on wheels and sometimes I could use one of those when my little legs get tired. There's a table she can put her dinner on if she doesn't want to get out of bed. She has some bells she gets to ring when she needs something. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a bell to ring when I want my Temptations. And a machine that makes the air clean and pure. It has a long, long cord that I find is a lot of fun to chase. And her litter room has many special things, but I'm too much of a lady to talk about all of those. Anyway, I think this new chair is awesome, it comes with a tray to eat from, though if the Zoolatry Human put the tray on right now, I'd be hidden underneath it. And there's some foot thing that comes high up in the air when you want it to, but my little paws don't reach far enough to use it. The Zoolatry Human said they call this a "geri-chair" and I said, "no, I think they call it a zoey-chair".
Hi, the Zoolatry Human here, taking over from Zoey... my Mom has lived with us since 2003, and we are now blessed to have a lot of help from the wonderful Hospice people. Mom is now 95-years old, but recently seems to be transitioning to a new stage of life. In the last few weeks she has become much weaker, more confused, and often very sad. We are asking that she be remembered in your prayers. Not for recovery, that is no longer possible. But to pray that her days will be filled with only comfort and peace, no pain and no sorrow, until the time when the Lord calls her home. Thank you...

  1. Ann, just wanted you to know that I am thinking about your mom and sending my best wishes for peace and serenity to her - and to you, too. I'm really sorry that she's been having such a hard time. And of course, the cats send many purrs.

  14. It is so very sad when they are at that stage in their lives, for them because they are ready and for us also because you know they are soon to leave but also because you want nothing more for them than to no longer be in pain, there are so many conflicting feelings.
You are doing all that you can for your mom and I am sure she knows it,I think it would be hard relying on someone for everything, especially if you are much weaker and can't do as much.
We will be purring and praying for your mother and you, just take it day by day :)

  21. Ann,

Milo and Alfie said it was OK if I posted a comment today.

I so understand where you are with your Mom - I went through similar to this with my beloved grandad (who died aged 100 years and 4 months old). We are sending all our prayers and love for your Mom's life to be as comfortable as possible as it draws to a close. We know she has had a wonderful life so far and is truly loved and cherished by you all - and that counts for a lot.

When Grandad used to get confused and repeat questions over and over - I just used to answer them every time as if it was the first time he asked. I felt that was best. It seemed to work anyway.
Sometimes the confusion was caused by something as simple as a urine infection - and so once he's had antibiotics he perked up again.

It sounds like you are doing everything you can for your Mom and that is a wonderful thing.

  26. I am sending lots of heartfelt prayers to you and your Mother. My Mother is in a nursing home in Baytown, Texas. I don't get to see her as often as I would like to. She has Alzheimer’s and doesn't have any idea who I am any more. It is a very difficult time.

  35. Hi, I just wanted to thank you again.

I also wanted to tell you how nice it is you are doing this for your mother. We took care of my great-grandmother for a long time after she got sick and it is one of the best things you can do. None of us would have done it any differently.

You and your mother are most definitely in my prayers.
