When our beloved friends arrive at their final resting place
beyond the rainbow bridge, I would like to believe there is
a gathering of those who came before to welcome them.
For those arriving who so willingly and bravely
gave service to man during their lives on earth
I would like to believe a little something extra awaits ~
a halo with a star perhaps, or shining golden wings.
K9 CHASE
served on earth.
Now his days of service have come to an end.
Please offer comfort in memory of this extraordinary dog,
please offer comfort to those whose lives he touched.
Among our close blogging friends we are proud to include Amber da Weenie and Max, DaWeenies of Florida and their amazing Mom, Linda. When I lived in Florida I had the pleasure of meeting Linda and we have remained in touch over the years. For those who may not know, Linda also creates the monthly blog, Our Rainbow Friends.
CPL Jeff Colon is her son. Jeff and his family, with Chase, have often traveled from their home in Michigan to spend time with Linda and her husband, Amber and Max in Florida ~ all are close.
All are deeply saddened by the sudden and unexpected loss of Chase.
Because of computer issues, Linda is not able to post to her blog at this time, so any comments you wish to leave for her and for Jeff and family may be left here ~ thank you.
Linda wrote: "Chase was 9 years old and served as an officer of the Dearborn Heights Police Department since 2009. He won many awards and citations for his service to the city. He was instrumental in apprehending many criminals and also served in locating illegal drugs. We knew Chase as the big fun-loving dog that he was. Many times when he came to visit, he only wanted to be a big lap dog and not a police officer."
Rest in peace, Chase. Thank you for your service.

ReplyDeleteSo sad to learn of Chase's unexpected departure for the Bridge after so many years of devoted service to his community as a police officer. It takes a special dog to do the work he did, and we know that his human family, and his police family as well as everyone in the community will miss him. Sending hugs to CPL Colon and family as the loss is personal for them well beyond the scope of the devotion to duty Chase had with his "job". Rest easy Chase - you did an amazing job.

ReplyDeleteI don't know if you know this, but I am a Rainbow Bridge Ambassador and I meet pals when they arrive and drive them in my to their Welcome Banquet, in my pram/stroller. Chase had a wonderful welcome banquet, filled with all his favorite foods. Being OTRB, we can eat anything and do everything! No jumping on weight scales for us. We will all take god care of Chase and introduce him to all our clubs and fun stuff. The day Chase's dad find himself unexpectedly standing on the Rainbow Bridge, Chase will be there to meet him. They will be a forever family again...not just yet. ((((((((HUGS)))))) XXX
