THANKFUL THURSDAY

Thankful for friends.

Dougie Dog was not a "shelter dog".  He was, however, a rescue ~ though we'll never know for
certain if he'd run away out of fear for some reason, or if he'd been abandoned.
It was likely he'd lived on his own for some time, struggling to find food and shelter and safety.
When rescued he was "battered and worn out and starving".  But his heart and his soul were undamaged.
Having found a forever home, he has become the most loving and loyal and gentle companion one could hope for.  A friend to all.

Today, sadly, shelters in every community overflow with pets ... many who will never leave to a much desired forever home.  And today is known as DOGust ... a day to give them each a "birthday" celebration!  Of course, every shelter can use and will welcome donations of food, and toys ... pet beds, blankets, towels and such ~ and of course, your time as a volunteer.  But there is so much more you can give.  We've found that our shelters gladly accept newspaper, old towels, blankets, comforters, rags ... even old toys, pet dishes, pet carriers, leashes, collars.  You're buying something new for your own pet ... don't throw away the "old" ... donate to your shelter, please!  They will likely be able to put it to good use.  New or old, gently used ... you can help, today ... every day! [and it goes without saying ... shelter kitties need a lot, too]

  3. Kali was returned after one weekend because she was "too wild". Those peeps didn't know what they had-she's great and all she needed was a chance and some love.

  5. We try to do a little bit by dropping off treats and towels, and sometimes a few green papers, to our local shelters. They can always use more and they are always so grateful.

We bet Dougie is also thankful that he found your wonderful and loving home.

  6. Our Little Bit was abandoned. She was the best pup ever and never spent a night at the shelter. The sergeant that got her took her to animal control and did the paperwork and we cam along and said we wanted her. Best baby ever. They just need a chance.

I need to donate to our local shelter. They do such wonderful work.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. ♥
