Propinquity! What a fun word, it even sounds fun, the way it rolls out of one's mouth! And it means something quite nice . . . the state of being close to someone, or something. Not something any of us can put into practice so much right now . . . and not something that Maggy and Zoey were ever known to put into practice over their years of living together.
And yet there were those rare moments when I was able to catch them in proximity to one another (with no swatting or hissing taking place) and capture a photo. And one would think they were the fondest of housemates. Not! It was simply that they both wanted to enjoy the breezes of an open window ... or had been attracted for some reason to the same window ledge on the back porch. Who can ever quite know the mind of a kitty?

Here, photo captures of those times Maggy and Zoey showed a little bit of propinquity!

Some kitties like to be together and others not so much. I'm glad you were there to capture their rare togetherness.

ReplyDeleteLovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteGeorgia and Julie have much the same relationship ;)
One great thing about blogging is that we capture so many images of cats over the years.
We probably have more cat pics than human pics (almost)
Still, a great way to preserve memories.
Cat mum,Nancy
what sweet and beautiful kitties. We have always lived with cats and mostly with more than 2 at a time. BUT our now kitty Lucy does not allow anyone else to live with us....and that's ok! Cheers and have a great day!

ReplyDeleteThere was a man who bravely adopted two cats from the shelter, both known for hating every other cat on the planet. They actually share him, one sleeps at his head, the other at his feet. Sometimes a greater good comes along.
ReplyDeleteAww, how sweet that you sometimes caught your angels together. :)
ReplyDeleteAll that matter is that you look like a happy family. Never let them know otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI have been lucky about cats getting along in my life. Even the spine-injured and rather "untouchy" "Mean Old Tinkerbell" was calm on my lap, accepted strokes (I moved the hand above the injured spot) and became "decent" to young Skeeter and young LC in the early 90s when they arrived.
ReplyDeleteSkeeter and LC accepted Ayla in 2008 after just a couple days. Ayla, in turn, accepted Iza and then Marley in a couple days.
I have been lucky about cats getting along. "Mean Old Tinkerbell" had a spine injury from a dog as a kitten and it never healed. I had to treat her carefully. But as I stroked her back, I learned to slightly lift my hand over the injury.
ReplyDeleteShe was still a bit mean at first, but over the years, she stopped trying to bite me as she learned I wasn't going to cause pain at "that spot". You learn what they need.
She wasn't happy when I brought Skeeter-kitten in 10 years later or LC after 9, but she grew used to them and was still happy on my lap. All my cats have adjusted well.
OK, Ayla did not love Iza much all that much. But they were calm enough to nap close sometimes and that was good enough.
Now we have Laz. It's a challenge. Ayla is not being very friendly. It's been 9 days. Laz loves ME and Marley is generally OK with him, but Ayla could be a problem. I would sure hate to experience the first failure.
Great photos.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely to be able to capture those rare moments of togetherness.
