Angel Sammy challenged us all today with a very interesting picture for Sam's Poetry Corner. I had to google "typewriter" before I could even think to compose a poem, I mean like those things are almost prehistoric! And when all was said and done, my humom had to do the "typing" part ~ paws with claws on a keyboard sort of end up looking like a whole string of really bad x-rated words!
So if you'd like to read more poems, just click over to TWO SPOILED CATS and if you're thankful you don't have to use a clunky old typewriter then tell every furry what you're thankful for today by joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop over at BRIAN'S HOME BLOG .
Dad says this reminded him of the typing class he actually took in high school, complete with an elderly teacher and record player up front with music they had to type to. And he calls ME old!
ReplyDeleteThat was a cool poem June.
ReplyDeleteEven on Mum's keyboard I cannot type.
I cannot spell either :/
Good thing she is a pawsome translator ;)

My mom remembers typing tests. She was at 85 wpm which was acceptable for most jobs at the time. Now she says taking typing in school was one of the most important classes ever as she spends all day every day typing at the computer. Who knew that would happen?
ReplyDeleteThe mom took typing in high school and remembers the tests. She still can't type well!
ReplyDeleteWe loved your poem, Juney! Mom remembers when the electric typewrite came into existence. What a blessing that was!
ReplyDeleteMy dad had a typewriter just like the one in the 1936 test photo. I learned in typing classes in 1960 and 1961, called typing 1 and typing 2.. the typewriters were big and ugly and manual and not electric. the first job i got in 1962 had an electric typewriter but I rarely used it. I much prefer our typing keyboards now and must say you look good typing and i love the computer has the yellow marks on keys. tell Mom she did a great job on the poem, i could come up with nothing
ReplyDeleteooh you wrote it eggs-cellent... the mama failed in all tests, it was a typo-saster...
ReplyDeleteThat would sure take some fast paws sweet June. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem, June!
ReplyDeleteI never learned to type but in my first job after school I worked for a vet and once a month on the afternoon we were closed I had to type out all the monthly bills. The typewriter must have come out of the ark. It was the sort you used to see in the old black and white movies!
I was supposed to finish at 5.30 but very often it would be 9pm. I would get 5/- overtime for that! I don't know what that is in US dollars, probably around 25 cents.
I remember having a typing class in school first thing in the morning, in the winter my fingers were cold and it was hard to type fast. I'm glad I learned to type, but it is something of a lost art nowadays.
ReplyDeleteWell done June!! You are quite the word smith.
ReplyDeleteOh for sure that type of photo won't be seen again

This is FABULOUS June! Love it - very clever and Mom's memory of this occasion in her life really wasn't much like this photo. She learned to type in Business School on an electric typewriter then when she had to take her Civil Service exam it was a manual. Oh boy. She thought she'd flunk but she didn't!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
You did a super job with your poem!!
ReplyDeleteThe Florida Furkids
Excellent job on the poem. XO
ReplyDeleteThat's a great poem for that picture. We like how you incorporated the words typing test into the poem. That's very clever.
ReplyDeleteGrandma Elsie (dad's mom) was a typing teacher, and very proud of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is pawsome, June!
ReplyDeleteWell, you and your humom did a fabulous job!
ReplyDeleteI remember when typing was something only the nerds did.
