Caturday Art today is simple and basic. Left, original photo: this was, I thought, a nice enough photo of June. Yet I felt it could be enhanced by making the background less distracting with the focus instead on June and her colorful toy.
Right, altered photo: she was first silhouetted with the soft brush so the background exposure could be darkened and blurred. A filter called "satin" was used to further darken the vertical sides of the image while highlighting the center. The last step, the "dodge tool" brightened and lightened June's white furs and her colorful toy.
I felt the result was a more dramatic and interesting photograph, yet in keeping with her pensive mood as captured in the original.
