I'm always thankful for my brushie-time. But I want to share a little secret with you about this special time of day for me-and-Mom. I'm not, and have never been much of a lap cat (but I'll tell you a story about when and only when I am a lap cat next Sunday) ... but I do sit "with" her for brushies, and we sit in our my polka dot chair! A secret about our my chair you may not know either is it's a lounger ~ I don't use it like that, but when Mom sits there to watch a movie she puts the "flap" up for resting her feet. And when we do brushies, that flap goes up! So, I sort of half-sit on her legs and half-sit on the flap!
So, I am not a lap cat. I am a Flap cat!
I have assumed the position on the flap to indicate I am ready for brushie time.
If she does not promptly respond I will nudge the brushing tool toward her.
It is I who decide when my brushing time is over by yawning to show I am now tired of it.
There are times when she does not pick up on my subtle hint to cease brushing
and I find it necessary to swat her with my paw, very gently of course.
So, now that the daily brushies are over, I will retreat to the cupboard tops for some pre-bedtime napping and she will have the flap all to herself and probably watch a movie (during which she will likely nod off and have her own nap!) She would much prefer I stay and nap on her lap, but I don't do lap naps, because I am a flap cat.
such a flap is very practically... we need one too ;O)
ReplyDeleteA flap cat is nearly a lap cat. Maybe one day you will become a fully fledged lap cat.
ReplyDeleteMom hardly ever puts her flap up but I can only imagine what a great place it is to rest, Juney.
ReplyDeleteOur Gramma's cat isn't a lap cat either, but she loves to cuddle and sometimes lay on top of Gramma when she is in bed. Our kitties like sitting on laps, but Mom is either working and doesn't want a lap cat or she is moving around too much.
ReplyDeleteJune you don't have to be a lap cat because just looking at your purrrrrfect face is enough. you do have a most beautimous face.. Photogenic is your middle name... flap on non nap cat
ReplyDeleteLap cat or flap cat, you're still a cute cat.
ReplyDeleteYou are totally adorable no matter where you sit sweet June! Thanks for the Birthday wishes!!! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteMaybe some day you will graduate from the flap to the lap. We know that would make your mom very happy. Until then we're sure your mom enjoys all the flap time she can get.
ReplyDeleteCute June, you are a unique kitty, I have never heard of a flap cat until now - I bet you are the only one!
ReplyDeletebrushie times are the best. relaxing, spending time with mom, getting brushed, on your favorite flap...what more could a kitty ask for!?
ReplyDeleteJune, making her own rules, living her life in her own way!
ReplyDeleteYay!
Some of us angel kitties would sit beside our peeps, and enjoy the warmth and coziness, but hardly ever on the lap...and some of us were lap-magnetized! As soon as we detected any lap...boing; we would be up there! So its a good thing you like to be close to your mom:)
ReplyDeleteJuney
ReplyDeleteYou are what you are and we love you that way...well that is what I told Angel Madi. She was not a lap cat either which surprised us since Milky-Way was 100% a lap cat.
Hugs Cecilia
You are so darn cute. XO
ReplyDeleteWe love a kitty who knows just what she is!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Flapping!
xoxo,
Sunny and the Gang
I love that last picture of you! You just have the sweetest little face. (Laps are great, you should give them a try!)
ReplyDeleteYour title should be Flap Cat Extraordinaire!
ReplyDeleteI like the picture where it looks like you are trying to knock the camera away
ReplyDeleteWe are thankful to see you get your brushies! We have a sofa that has flaps as well as my chair from the Condo! I too was not a lap sitter, until most recently. I bet you June will be too as you get older (and discover the true joys of laps vs flaps) We are Thankful for you guys as our furrends! We feel blessed!
ReplyDeleteMe too. I am not a lap cat. I love brushies in my chair. I love sitting next to Pop on the bed while he watches movies and sometimes I *almost* lay against his leg.
