This white shawl was made for me forty-seven years ago by a close and dear friend ~ my wedding would be in Washington, DC at Thanksgiving and the weather unpredictable. I don't believe I've ever worn it since, yet I treasure it.
The photos here were taken over several days. The shawl has always been on this chair, and since her arrival here just about a year ago, and as often as June has rested or slept in this chair over past months, she has never once shown any interest at all in the shawl above her head.
~ until ~
now the shawl has a new owner ... love it ;O)

LOVE THIS. it is really beautiful . back in the 50's and late 60's these were every where, mother made a lot of them and I had about 3 I think, we wore them in the fall when we went to church... our eye doctor office has these hanging on 6 chairs in their lobby because their office is like a fridge. proably moved now due to covid

ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.
Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. ♥
You found the perfect use for that shawl, June. When it's colder outside it will be great to snuggle under to keep warm.
ReplyDeleteWell, now...I purchased a really cool cat bed, and set it out for the cats to use.
ReplyDeleteThey ignored it.
For years.
Finally, I was going to add it to my pile of items to donate, and the next day, we could not find Celestial Chuck anywhere!
Then we did...he was inside that bed that they'd ignored until I gave up.

ReplyDeleteHugs to your Mom, as she has such dear memories of that shawl.
Petcretary used to do a lot of crochet work, and made a lot of her own designs for baby shawls...most were big squares, of three or four feet, and made nice wrappings for those wee ones...none of her work is on display here, though, LOL!
Beautiful!
