THE LETTER T ~ TIME

THE LETTER T ~ TIME

Time.  Is it your enemy, or your friend?  Sometimes both, sometimes it is what you choose it to be.  Sometimes you are so very aware of it and sometimes it goes by so fast you wonder 'where did it go'?  We waste it.  Rush through it.  Complain there is not enough of it.  But we celebrate it on special days!  And just curious ~ how often do you check each day to see what "time" it is?
As I wondered what might be my LETTER T, and scrolled through files of photos, I found these pictures from maybe about 5-years ago, a crazy-grandma on a Florida vacation, thinking she could actually get on her grandboys pogo stick and apparently doing so for about 5-seconds of time!  Fast forward to that grandma 2-months ago. Hope time has made her not just a little older, but a little wiser.

[I do think I'd reverse Dylan's lyrics though, at least for myself, and say that the the slow one now, she was once fast ... or maybe he meant ... the days and time were slower then, and are going faster for us now, I'll have to spend some time thinking on this.]

The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast
The slow one now, will later be fast
As the present now, will later be past
The order is rapidly fadin'
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'

Songwriter: Bob Dylan

  3. Time is a weird thing as it does go by so fast but in the moment we also wish for it to fly by. Glad you are done with the pogo stick, that looks quite dangerous.

  4. Time is a constant but does not always feel that way. Sometimes (too) fast and sometimes slow.
There are sad times and happy times and like Jim Croce we wish we could save time in a bottle.
The older we get the faster it seems to pass. Make every day matter and... stay off the pogo stick ;)

  5. Our perception of time definitely can be muddled, depending on what's going on in our lives, our age, etc. I do look at the clock fairly frequently during the work week...for obvious reasons. :-D

BTW, I think it's awesome you got on that pogo stick for 5 seconds, I'm impressed! "Crazy" grandmas are fun grandmas. Of course I know you can't/won't do that now, but I think it was great you tried then!

  6. Our parents say that time is flying by fast and sometimes they say that a week took a long time to get through. Time seems to stand still and fly by all at the same time. We're glad you didn't hurt your leg from using that pogo stick. Our mom would probably twist her ankle if she tried one of those now. BOL!

  9. Mom has a handle with the blade on the bottom of it that you jump on to edge a garden. A few years ago, it was easy peasy. She tried it recently and well - it didn't go so well this time. She can't even imagine jumping on a pogo stick! She's always very well aware of the time because I'm a very routine oriented girl and heaven forbid she's late with anything!

  10. Bob Dylan's words are to be pondered on and can mean different things. I check the clock regularly in the mornings as I have to take meds at 7, 8 and 10 am and then when I go to bed. It is a pain taking so many but they keep me here and that is what is important. I hope the ankle has/ is healing well. You look great in your photos.

  14. In the context of the poem, I think Dylan meant the person. However, every senior citizen I've ever mentioned to how fast time flies now had agreed. Remember when you were a kid and couldn't hardly wait for something to happen? Time just crawled!

  15. Love the photo and the comparison of movement vs non. Have to keep on moving or we'll just stop :-) Time is relative. Live in the moment by moment.

  17. Ah yes time....it has been a thing in our family for sure...we grew up with all kinds of clocks, and I've had a watch on my wrist since I was three...In feel 'naked' without it. LOL! Why?? My father was a watchmaker/clock-maker! Even now I have all kinds of them in our home...including a few I inherited from him.

I hope that soon, (Time!), you'll be able to take that splint off and walk in regular shoes once again. Pogo sticks?? Forbidden for you, LOL!

(Sorry I missed a few of your fine letter posts, I am very behind and am trying to catch up...)

  18. Important to embrace and work with time as we age — particularly to avoid injuries like this one. Ouch!

  19. To change is to be truly human. To deny it is utter foolishness. Love the Dylan reference and your musings on Time. Most recently there have been reports from some of our brightest minds that Time does not exist. We frame time to give it meaning.
