Our Caturday Art today is a bit different ~ no cats, no dogs, and yes ~ no kids either! Just photo-art play with colors, shape and fonts. The "top image" is mostly designed from type fonts. Today there are so many amazing fonts that can be downloaded, they are an art form unto themselves and can often be colored, re-shaped, twisted and turned and of course beveled, shadowed, stroked and more. The only element in this image that is "clip art" is the golden-clip holder for the ornament. The red/black grid main background was repeated with a mosaic tool and green rules to make the inner border; then repeated again with a stained glass tool to make the outer border. The five trees and the star are all from type fonts. It was like building something ... putting one layer onto another, brightening or deepening the reds or the greens until it looked just right in my minds eye ... It was FUN!
This second image is anyone's guess as to the number of layers! It began with a simple peppermint candy, polarized on a green circle and given as much shimmer and shine as possible. Polarized again and then I cut out a 45 degree piece and copied it three times and put the four pieces together to create the ball ornament. Again the gold holder is clip art. Then the original art was squared, layered behind on an angle. It was bordered with a stained glass version of the same peppermint candy piece. And yet another layer placed behind that. Probably could have kept going and going and going ... but one has to stop somewhere ... less is more I'm told. Sometimes I can wind up with more being more. Not good. But again, FUN! And I think both look very "holiday". Enjoy.

ReplyDeleteOh they do.... and as a mandala creator myself, am adoring the second one!!! YAM xx
Both those pictures are fantastic. That second one is just gorgeous. That would make such a pretty ornament for the tree. Have a great day.

Both are simply stunning. I am just now starting to play with fonts but I never dreamed of doing this. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteWow! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteSigh, we are so envious of your talents!!! These are just exquisite. You should work for a greeting card firm as a designer.
