GOOD MORNING, KINDA SORTA

I usually grab my spot at the foot of the day bed before mine Mommy comes to take her spot.  That way I don't have to worry about her feetz wiggling-and-waggling me out of my comfort zone.  But last night, listening to all the weather purrsons talk about a big storm on the way, I thought it best to keep watch, you know, it's my job to be the purr-tector here.  And knowing that no matter the weather ~ that window will still be open ~ yes, open ~ I might need to alert her should big snows or ice [not that ICE], thunders or wind try to enter ... so I chose to sleep in our my polka dot chair.  Being my good mine Mommy, when she noticed me "not in the bed", she covered me with a little blankie ... meowz.

Now, early morning.  She didn't seem to notice I'd rearranged the blankie, okay, I'd done my duty overnight, we stayed warm and safe.  She's enjoying coffee, I've had some good breakfast to warm my tummy.  I had only a very quick look at Charles Street from "my new tree" ~ everything all white, sparkling ~ and yes, some cold windy air coming in through that open window.

So, here I am.  Back in our my polka dot chair.  I expect to spend the rest of the day here.  Sunrise is at 7:19 am today.  I kinda sorta don't think she will rise and shine today, at least not here.

Yeah.  So, that's all I've got.
Wherever you are, have a good, safe and warm Sunday.
Love, meowz, June

I THINK THAT I SHALL NEVER SEE . . .

I'm as excited as I can be.
A brand new cat tree
just for me!

As per enclosed instructions, I began my careful inspection
checking to ensure for quality construction,
sturdiness [I am on the, you know, well endowed side],
and that all stood up to my standards.

I found the sisal wrapped scratching post particularly
well suited to my needs.
And the wide body upper level would work well for my early morning
and evening daily observation hours of the activities on Charles Street below.

[... so far, so good ... I pawsed here to give
mine Mommy a paw of approval]

And by the paw, if'n you are wondering, or not, you will likely see more of
"me in the tree", I think it will be quite an amazing place for snow-fall-viewing
later tonight and tomorrow.  And that little cubby down below looks quite
cozy, purrhaps a blankie in there ...?

Oh, and about that other cat tree, that big, tall one ...

HERE I COME, READY OR NOT!

To all who have long been climate change deniers,
no matter the season, the time of year,,
no matter whether you live East, West, North or South,
anywhere in this big wide world ...

Mother Nature is about to say,

"let me tell you ~ no ~ let me show you a thing or two about that!"

THANKFUL THURSDAY ~ IT'S A COVER UP

Mine Mommy was listening to the weather purrson, so I was listening too.

We think it is about to getz very very cold 'n' snowy 'n' icy 'n' windy 'n'
all that kinda sorta stuff for most all of us all over everywhere.

So I got in my blankie basket
and I will stay here in my blankie basket to be warm and cozy
like maybe for one, two, three or more days until it is all over.

Now I will just be very thankful if'n mine Mommy will come cover up
the back end of me so it will be warm and cozy
for one, two, three or more days, too!

Be sure you cover up your back end too.  Meowz.

WEDNESDAY WORDS [With A Warning]

One year ago yesterday, January 20, 2025, the United States inaugurated and put in power a man-child who over the past 365+ days has done more damage to our democracy that most combined who came before him.

For one brief moment, we will set aside the actions and the destruction to focus here only on the "words".  Volumes of words: lies and exaggerations too many to count, documented even when he often follows with "I never said that".  Words of misogyny, words of hate, words of incitement, bullying, threatening, vulgarities, demeaning others, an endless tirade of venom from an uncontrolled and dementia raddled mind.  One need not hold a medical degree to know the so-called "light in his attic" dimmed long ago, and now it is totally dark up there.  The switch is off now and it appears there is no one who is yet ready, willing or able to step forward and stop him.

On January 7, in a lengthy interview with several reporters from The New York Times, and many of the White House staff present, when he was asked if there were any checks on his global authority: Donald J. Trump replied:

"Yeah, there is one thing.  My own morality.
My own mind.
It's the only thing that can stop me."

Of all the horrific and unconscionable things said by Trump over time, these are without doubt the most dangerous and frightening words spoken for they hold a measure of truth: who will stop him?  This man who has no morals, no values, no character, no foundation as a decent and good human being.  This man whose mind has no guardrails and is not now, never was, functioning with intelligence, empathy or any interest in serving his country or the people of his country.  Who will stop him?

UPDATE: If anyone took the time to sit through his weaving, wandering self indulgent presentation from the White House press briefing room yesterday, more power to you.  Most of us who've been in the workplace have often been asked to do our own annual "self" job performance review.  Well, he offered up his own, of course with an A+ grade, though his employers [we, all American citizens] are most likely to downgrade that to a F, and search for whatever measures possible toward termination!  Are there any?

I'll not demand equal time to rebut all the lies and exaggerations, others can and will do so.  I will simply choose a few that stood out [a/k/a particularly amused me] and seemed appropriate for a response.

"I signed an executive order to bring back mental institutions and insane asylums."  Well, golly gee ... over in Southeast DC sits St. Elizabeths, a now abandoned federal psychiatric hospital.  John Hinckley, who attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan was housed there for many years. Golly gee ... do a quick rehab, it's close to the White House, friends 'n' family can visit, reserve a room there for him, could be ready by say, Valentine's Day ...

"I think God is very proud of the job I've done ..."  Well, yeah, sure, of course, without doubt.  Seriously.  You need to take some meds.  God is ready to send you that 9th level when the time comes.

"To me a town, it looks better when you have military people - these are big, strong guys."  We are warned.

One more time.
Who will stop him?

CAPTIONS - COMMENTS - CURSES - CONTROVERSIAL

And likely to offend some.  With a small "sorry".  And yeah: yet again with all the disastrous political news of the past week [amend that to the past 17 days] this probably doesn't even qualify for "rumpt's top ten" list but it was one that kinda sorta was the most fun to play with when it came to "art and words".  So, look down if you dare, read on if so inclined and comment [in any which way] if you want, or not!  We took the liberty of including a few of our own.

"Just a little more gold for your oval, you deserve it, sir"
said the gifter to the grifter.
"But, I want the $1.19 million, too ..."

___________

Throughout 2024, as this man-child who would be king, openly sold himself, so needy and desirous of winning the Nobel Peace Prize [now watch as he'll beg for a Super Bowl ring, an Oscar or even a Masters "Green" Jacket], with every press briefing from the White House press room, his little blonde marionette would echo his pleadings, sing his praises and promote shamelessly that, of course, he was the only choice for the NOBLE Peace Prize.
Please note:  Yes, she usually, most always called it the NOBLE Peace Prize.
This is referenced here because it adds another layer of disgust [plus sarcasm and humor to this whole story].

The NOBEL Peace Prize is awarded for, among many other positive things ~ promoting peace, human rights and democracy.

The word NOBLE is defined as ~ showing fine personal qualities or high moral principles and ideals.

Donald J. Trump has done nothing that qualifies him for the NOBEL Peace Prize and looking at what he is currently doing in the United States of America, doing in other countries and threatening to do ~ it is absurd to think he would ever be eligible for any peace prize in the future.
Donald J. Trump personally is not, never has been and never will be a man one would define as noble in any way shape or form, he has no morals, no values or ideals beyond his own self importance, needs and wants.   It was a sad day for this country when he was elected to office.  A tragedy that goes on day after day.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Many, well most evenings ~ I am gracious and considerate ~
allowing mine Mommy to relax in our my polka dot chair.

It's a recliner, so she can put her foots up, after her long, hard easy day,
read a book, watch a movie, you know ~
those things hu-moms like to do before bed [sometimes she even naps!].

By the paw, that "nap" thing I have never understood.
Meowz, why not just simply go to bed, that's what I'd do ...

Anywayz.  As she's commandeered our my chair, I sit in the Ikea one beside her.
And all I really wanted to say today was "thank you",
for as nice a chair as it is, it does have wooden arms.

But if you'll take note, she recently got me a new small 'n' soft blankie,
strategically placed over one arm of the chair so as I rest my little head here,
it is much more comfy.

PS  I'm watching her right now.  Ssshhh, I actually think she is
nodding off, which is making me feel some sleepies, too.  Does that
happen to you?  Do you feel sleepies when you see someone else being sleepy?

BOARD or BORED

Sometimes it's fun to play games with mine Mommy.
Like, you know ~ board games.
Sometimes it's not.
Sometimes I get bored with board games.

By the paw ~ would anyone do a trade?
I'll give you
Boardwalk (with two houses!)
in trade for a
Get Out Of Jail Free card.

TWTWTW

Anyone remember that great show, TWTWTW ~ That Was The Week That Was ~ it aired on BBC in the United Kingdom in the early 1960s.  And soon followed on US television, airing in 1964-65.  Political and current events, satire and commentary, with writers and comedians who later went on to considerable fame [a/k/a notoriety] in other well known shows and venues.  It also opened the doors for many of the shows we see today and the freedom of speech comedians, writers and film makers continue to have [at least for now] allowing criticism of the actions of our government and its officials.

JANUARY 4-10, 2026
CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE QUALIFIED AS ONE HELLUVA
TWTWTW

Me?  I've been practicing daily going into hiding.  My go bag you could say.  In the big closet.
An old song was playing on mine Mommy's speakers, "whatcha gonna do when
they come for you?"  S'riously.  Got me thinking.
That's happening more and more, all over.  Meowz.  I can at least hide, right?
And I'm allowed and free to criticize.  And complain.  MOL and SOL.
And I gots big sharp teethz and my claws ... well.
Guess what?
Last time mine Mommy did one of those Amazon orders, well, she
included a blue whistle for me!
I wonder if it's a blue-and-white polka dot whistle!

I have paws together that on
Sunday, January 18 I will not be looking back at this
coming week and meowzing it was another helluva TWTWTW.

EMW *

EMW* With all due respect, an apawlogy and compliments and pleasantries to our friend and furriend, Ms. Cecilia and Ms. Angel Madi, of My Mind's Eye, today we have appropriated [to take without purrmission] the regular and frequent postings of their Early Morning Walks (EMWs) during which they share lovely and interesting images of homes, flowers and trees, views of the neighborhood where they live, places they visit and so much more ~ you too should visit, if you do not do so already ~

Our EMW on the other paw is a bit different.  Being somewhat early risers, both of us, by habit or choice [or need, in that June demands breakfast around 4 am, another story for another day] ... our EMW is the acronym for Early Morning Wandering.  It is still dark, now in winter a few hours until sunrise.  I sit at the table, it is very quiet only a few sounds rise from the street below for there is little traffic yet at this hour.  The buildings of the city, those tall and those small have only a minimum of lighted windows now.  If a clear night there may be a few stars to be seen, but never the stars one would see in the suburbs or rural areas ~ I've always missed seeing the stars.  And the quiet will be broken by sirens, yes, those never cease in a city.  But I sit and enjoy it while it lasts, unbroken and June curls up on the floor, beside me, leaning against the table leg.  My mind wanders to yesterday, to what we may do today, to times long long ago.  Early morning wandering, remembering other people, other places, moments sad, moments of joy, moments shared, so many memories.  Pictures in the mind, words, music, wandering there, in the quiet of a new day.  I look down and see this little kitty, does her mind wander I wonder ... early morning wondering, too.

Wandering, wondering, waiting for this wonderful new day to begin.
