JUST BETWEEN YOU, ME, AND THE FENCEPOST

or ... A CONVERSATION BETWEEN TWO DOGS

THIS IS "BEAR" - DOUGIE DOG'S BACKYARD FENCE FRIEND

Bear (the Dude in the conversation above) is Dougie Dog's next door sometime-neighbor.  He comes to visit his Grandma M. just about every week for a few days, giving him a chance to run free in their fenced backyard, which is up against Dougie's fenced backyard!  And if the two happen to be out in their respective yards at that same time, a loud and rowdy play session begins.

They love to run the fence line together, mirror images.  Back and forth, up and down, barking along the way, non-stop.  And oh, the digging (OH, NO).  Sniffing, of course, nose to nose.  And being generally playful, challenging one another.

Each are chocolate labs (maybe a touch of something else in their heritage).  Each are rescue dogs.  Each is around 4-5 years old.  Each (at least this week) sporting their blue collars!  Each friendly, loving, obedient, attentive to commands - most of the time.  Bear is a little more rotund in face and body and not quite as tall as Dougie Dog.  But all in all, yes: mirror images, having fun together.

  4. Interesting that they have such a similar background. Maybe they are litter mates reunited.

  6. We used to have a next door neighbor named Bear! He was my best pal, a huge white Samoyed, who I plied with puppy biscuits and bowls of water in the summer. His pawrents used to leave him outside in the fenced yard on nice days. Sometimes he would escape and then he couldn't figure out how to get back into the yard, so he would come looking for me (either in the garden or bang on the kitchen door) and I would let him back in, his pawrents none the wiser. Sadly, he moved to San Francisco but I still miss him!

  8. We love to do that with our neighbor dogs too, but we do tend to make a path along the fenceline, ruining the grass and creating lots of mud when it is rainy:( But it is so much fun; we understand how much Dougie must enjoy his time with Bear.

Mom thinks racing the fence line may have had something to do with Lightning's injury.
