CATURDAY ART ~ Double Exposures Plus

Using Adobe Creative Cloud is a continuing learning process.  As part of membership in CC, frequent "tips and ideas" are shared, with how-to instructions.  Recently, there was a brief tutorial on creating double exposures.  A bit amusing in some ways ~ thinking back to the days when we did not have such advanced cameras, and of course, no computers to alter or enhance our images ~ and a double exposure was likely an unhappy accident.  Now ... here we are ... attempting to "create one"!

I was challenged to give it a try ... using several layers, using the screen and multiply tools to lighten/darken the various layers.  The primary layer (per CC guidance) was to be a silhouetted image (full strength) with the other two layers behind and on top of the silhouette.

For mine, of Dougie Dog and of Zoey, I chose afterward to "border" each image as I usually like the effect of a border, simple or elaborate to frame and complete an image.  All in all, the double exposure technique was fun to work through and I think I'll definitely try it again if I can find the right basic images to work with ~ as that was the one part that I found most difficult, one image laying on another yet not blocking out or covering up a goodly part of the photo underneath.  Yet the multiple images needed to complement one another in shape and color.

  2. I love what you did. My double exposures still tend to be unhappy accidents with the camera but at least these days I can use the computer to make it look like it was intentional and creative and not just me unable to get a good picture. ~Alasandra
