"Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" by T.S.Eliot
~ and I am a Jellicle Cat ~ says Zoey ~
Way back in the 1960s (yes, she's that old) when the Zoolatry Human was a college student in the "big apple", she was always first in line at the student affairs office to grab a SRO ticket to a Broadway play, the Met or whatever was available for the upcoming weekend. She remembers seeing so many amazing productions. But never "CATS" ~ which didn't premiere on Broadway until 1982. For the past twenty-five years, this extraordinary musical, by the great Andrew Lloyd Webber has continued to play "on the road" to audiences all over! And today, she is swishing her tail with excitement as she's off to see it live at the John F. Kennedy Performing Arts Center in Washington, DC. Me, well, I don't know, she'll probably be caterwauling "Memory" much to the dismay of Dougie Dog for the next several weeks . . .
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what great Caturday Art.
ReplyDeleteI never saw CATS but I love the music...it was here a few times but tickets sold quickly. I'm thrilled
Mom gets to see it!!!
Hugs Cecilia

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time at the Cats show, Miss Ann!
ReplyDeleteAmazing Halloween art!
ReplyDeleteMy mum hasn't seen CATS either and she's lived in London for most of her life.
Have a great evening!
The Zoolatry human will love Cats!
ReplyDeleteBefore we cruised we always went away for a luxury break somewhere for our anniversary. Ivor told me he had booked a few days in London but not that he had booked the best seats to see Cats!
When we were shown to our seats we realised that we were looking at the back of the stage and he was not happy. The lights went down and the stage rotated. We really did have the best seats!
We were lucky too that Elaine Paige was taking the part of Grizabella the glamour cat that night.
That was scary
ReplyDeleteMy Mom and I took my niece to see CATS right before it closed on Broadway. It is the only show on Broadway I have ever been to.
ReplyDeleteHope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed your art.
ReplyDeleteOOH! How fun it will be for your human to see CATS!
ReplyDeleteOh Congrats to your human, we are sure she is going to have a great time.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun! t.s. eliot wrote about jellicle cats, and you make a spectacular one little Zoey!
ReplyDeleteWonderful art, and i hope you enjoyed the show!
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago, Bigger Girl saved up so she and Little Girl could ride The City of New Orleans train to Chicago and see the Broadway on Tour production of Cats. It was the trip of a life for them.
Pawsome! Our Mom saw Cats on Broadway with her Mom and her Nana. Mr. Misttoffelees came down from the stage and danced with her Nana! Special memories!
