NATURE FRIDAY

Great Falls on the upper Potomac River is bordered by Maryland and Virginia.
It really doesn't matter which side you choose to visit ~ each is dramatic in it's own way,
each offers hiking trails easy-to-difficult, extraordinary rock formations, bridges and
catwalks over the rushing rapids and spots of respite where pools of calm waters rest among rocks.
Open all seasons of the year, the landscape shifts and changes with changing weather.
Photos from a winter afternoon recently spent hiking on the Maryland side.

Today we'll join the
NATURE FRIDAY Blog Hop
sponsored by LLB in our Backyard.

  4. As I am a Pisces, I need to be near water to recharge my energy batteries. Waterfalls and bubbling streams are my favorite, but I am lucky to be only minutes from Lake St. Clair, and can stand on a dock or a beach, and listen to lapping water, and am soothed.

  12. These are so beautiful. Mom and dad used to go to places like this almost every weekend, but haven't been lately. It was easier when they were a little further west, especially with all the state parks around out that way. I'll be that water is freezing!
