Did you ever have a "paint by numbers kit" as a child? The little kit with a black-and-white picture, similar to a cartoon drawing ~ each open space numbered. The numbers matched to the colors in your paint box. Fun to do, and easy for the young artist!
For CATURDAY ART, we decided to design our own, choosing a photo of JUNE in her toy basket (original, top photo). It is followed by the black-and-white image to be painted, numbers excluded. And then the finished "paint by numbers" image.
As JUNE likes her polka dots and the color blue, and I like red-and-white stripes ~ those are the colors we chose. Her spring toys were added at the last minute, just to keep her from jumping out of the toy box and give us time to finish the picture!
These are awesome! Great work, and some wonderful art. Dad says he had paint-by-number stuff when he was a kid (I find it hard to believe he remembers that). Along with Lite Brite, Etch-a-Sketch, Thingmaker, Spirograph and whatever all other fantastic toys kids had back in the olden days.
ReplyDeleteEtch-A-Sketch ~ obviously, one of our favorites, we forgot that one. Thank you for a "new" idea!
DeleteWow that turned out fantastic. Mom used to do paint by numbers when she was young, she said it was lots of fun. She remembers painting a cat once.
ReplyDeleteGreat art work!
ReplyDeleteYou are artsy purrfect sweet June!
ReplyDeleteThat is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOh Ann what memories you brought back to me. My Daddy and I used to do lots of paint by numbers. We had pictures on tv trays in the den. He loved the paint by number horses.
ReplyDeleteJuney I love your colorful art too.
Hugs Cecilia
I love it love it love it... all of it.
ReplyDeleteI remember doing paint-by-numbers as a kid! they looked just like your painting of June!

ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteThat came out great. XO
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun, creative idea! I loved paint by numbers when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteWe like both your pictures and think June looks happy to hang out in her basket.
ReplyDeleteWe've been loving your posts by the way (but for the snakes!!) ... WP right now is NOT allowing us to comment, working on trying to put a fix on that. It's a bummer, they're keeping us off nearly all WP bloggies!
DeleteYou are just so clever!!! This is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
What a cool concept!
ReplyDeleteColor her "hungry".
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, that is so much fun! We had those ki8ts when we were kids. :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool art from a cute picture of June! As a child I did some paint-by-number pictures too. I think they were useful in developing hand-eye coordination and learning how colors and shapes and subjects were placed together in traditional pictures. Later in art classes we learned how to shape our own subjects and choose our own colors, and to innovate.
ReplyDeleteThank You for visiting us so often, we've "found" you and begun to follow ... nose taps for your friendship!
DeleteBeautiful job
ReplyDeleteMummy remembers those kits. And now you have made a kitty kit! What fun!
ReplyDeleteDad had those and liked them a lot. He wished he still had some of his masterpieces
ReplyDeleteI think I might still have some of my finished Paint by Number 'masterpieces' from way back when life was simpler and seemingly much more fun...
ReplyDeleteJune, you look so pretty in your painted basket!
Amazing art as usual! TW used to have Venus Paradise coloring sets as well as paint by number kits. She remembers one kit was all cats. Her mom worked in a toy store so she got lots of cool stuff.
