SKETCHING
I've always enjoyed the Photoshop tools that allow me to work in black and white. To transform a full color photograph to monotone and use line tools, pens, brushes and shading to "create" what appears to be a sketch of the subject. Soft brushes will give a pastel effect, sharp pens the look of an India-ink drawing. What seems like a hundred-years ago, I worked with real India ink on real art stock, but now enjoy the challenge of digital designs.
As we continue through our Art Gallery Retrospective month, files include 'collections' or 'series' designed around a common theme. For these, we called upon pet friends in this community, asking permission to work with their pet photographs. Those who are long time pet bloggers may remember the years [early-mid 2000s] when we would ask a pet to choose a word they felt best described themselves. We designed a picture of the "pet and their word" and this series ran randomly as Wordy Wednesday Challenges.
In revisiting these pictures, many of these friends ~ cats and dogs ~ have either crossed their Rainbow Bridge, or may no longer be active bloggers. But all live on in our memories.
Tomorrow, July 10, we'll feature a number of wonderful pets, WHAT'S IN A NAME?, followed by other series throughout this week.
They absolutely look like real sketching and no way to tell that they were digitally done and you do have such a talent with the digital. I've never had much luck trying to do the sketch thing because I can't sketch

ReplyDeleteHi There...Internet is running slow today but at least it's running so I could check out some of your posts. WOW!!! I love what's going on this month with all the "old stuff". I wish I could do more with PhotoShop Elements but everything different that I experiment with turns into a complete disaster. I keep getting popup messages that my computer running Windows 8.1 will soon lose a lot of its abilities so I had to order a new computer that will run on Windows 11, including the new version of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements. Wonder how that will turn out??? Anyway, I'll be emailing you soon (if the InterNuts cooperate). :) ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteThat sketch effect using photos and editing programs is quite amazing! The images are really beautiful. I hope to be set up again one day to try this myself.
