Now in it's 52nd year and sponsored by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy, this evening, Baltimore's historic Washington Monument will be lit for the 2023 holiday season. With music, food and entertainment, fireworks, and more it is a traditional event in my hometown. First, we'll stop in at a gathering in the 18th floor community room of our apartment building for a high-up view of the opening events, visit with friends, enjoy punch and hors d'oeuvres. This top floor room overlooks the Monument, with spectacular windows on three sides viewing the city. Below left: the windows decorated with twinkling lights for the season. Below right: the Monument view on a bright, sunny day.
The two photos below were taken following the 2022 Lighting of the Monument.

ReplyDeleteIt is definitely a great place to live. And I'm much happier in a more country environment. Even though we live in a subdivision, it's out in the county and our home is surrounded on 3 sides by trees. But visiting somewhere like where you live is always a joyful thing for me, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing these pretty Christmas photos. I had no idea.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have had a beautiful time seeing this year's festivities. It looks most beautiful.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteOh, just WOW! I agree that you live in a gorgeous part of your city!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful that you had a tasty gathering pre-show with your fellow apartment dwellers and then had the same folks to enjoy the show with. It seems you did land in a great place after all!
