PHOTO HUNT: IN MEMORY OF

Todays Photo Hunt was very difficult. Each of our lives are so full of memories, and with each moment of each day, we are creating new memories. My daily goal is to remember and hold close all the good memories, let go of the rest.
I am now caregiver for my Mom, who has lived with us for six years.
She sometimes worries that she is a burden to me, but I remind her teasingly,
"Mom, you were my caregiver for about 18-years,
the scales aren't balanced yet."
In the end though, it seemed appropriate on this day to
remember my Mother,
and my Grandmothers and Great Grandmothers who filled my life
with love and wonderful memories.
Tomorrow ~ we'll remember many Mothers.

  4. What very nice memories, our Mommy is caregiver to her Mom also. She has live with Mom for 14 years. Pop Pop(Mom's Dad) was a fireman which might have shortened his life but he loved helping others and animals too!=^Y^=the Cat Street Boyz

  5. Dear Ann,

Milo and Alfie said they didn't mind me hogging the comments today.

The photo memories are just beautiful - and reached my heart.
No one can deny that looking after the very elderly can be a struggle at times (we are only human) but it is also a great privilege. As you so rightly said, they looked out for us when we needed it, then we look out for them in turn. It is the right way of things.

As you know, My lovely old grandad died in December last year (100 years and 4 months old) and it was a joy to spend time with him right up until he died - even sometimes if I felt wearied, he would bring a smile to my face. I miss him so much.

"There is no old age, there is as there always was, just you" - I always used this phrase to my beloved grandad.

So,on Mother's Day, would you gently squeeze your Mom's hand from me? Show her a stranger is glad she is doing well and is so loved. And while you're at it, receive a ((((hug)))) from me yourself - for being such a great Mom, and daughter, and grand-daughter. It makes me proud to be female.

Oh, and Milo and Alfie send you purrs too.

    Jan (Milo and Alfie's Mom)

  25. I agree - today's Photo Hunt was difficult, both to remember our loved ones and to read the posts of others. Your photos are lovely, and so are the memories.

  31. Such a very nice post. You are very fortunate to have so many photos of women from your family. Not everyone has those. Most of all you are fortunate to have the relationship with your mother.

    Happy Mother's Day
