MAGGY, EASY LIKE SUNDAY

This antique dressing table sits in our foyer. When it was restored (about five layers of black paint covered it), we discovered it was made from many different kinds of wood. The gentleman refinishing the piece, lovingly took the time to restore each type of individual wood, the old hardware, and even the wooden casters. It became the favorite piece of the ZH. So she was definitely a little stressed when I recently decided it was a fine place for an afternoon nap. She was miffed when I would jump up there with my sharp claws and slide across the top, then scrunch around and around until I found the proper sleeping position. After a short time however, I happened to overhear her say, "you know, when I think further on this, my sweet Maggy is much more important and valuable than any old piece of furniture." I have to admit that I'm rather glad she feels that way...

  10. Glad your mom came around and realized that you are more important than the dresser. It is very pretty though so be careful not to put too many ouchies on the beautiful finish. I know your mom worked hard to make it pretty and get rid of all of that old paint.

  17. We have a couple suggestions for your furniture safety. Perhaps a crocheted doily which will soon attract the cat. We have tons of them because they're in every antique (flea market) shop here for mere pennies, or should you not like that idea a bottle of old english furniture polish. It does nothing to stop the scratches but does an amazing job at covering them up while keeping the beautiful finish.

  18. You look very lovely laying there, Maggy - you add immensely to the table's value!

But we do agree that the table itself, even without you, is *gorgeous*!
