ONE WEEK AGO TODAY ~

In memory of my friend, my husband, my love.
Vic Adamus
December 27, 1947 ~ September 18, 2012
Germany, 1949
Always a cuddler and lover of cats.

Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Georgetown, Washington, DC
Lord, help us to remember when we first met and the strong love that grew
between us ~ help us to always see the good within the other,
and find answers to all our problems.
Help us to say the kind and loving thing and
make us big enough to ask forgiveness of the other.
We put our marriage into your hands.
Amen

Our Family Begins
Our daughter ~ today a wife and mother.

Our Family Grows
Our son ~ today a husband and father.

The Cycle of Life
We are now blessed with three loving and beautiful grandchildren.

Our last photo together.

I do not wish you joy without a sorrow,
nor endless day without the healing dark.
Nor brilliant sun without the restful shadow,
nor tides that never turn against your bark.
I wish you love and strength, and faith and wisdom,
goods, gold enough to help some needy one.
I wish you songs but also blessed silence,
and God's sweet peace when day is done.

  1. My God, is this moving! But so beautiful! My eyes are leaking, but it is mostly because of the sweetness I feel reading this.

And because I realise what a great life you had together with your daughter and son.

He left us, but I am sure "on the other side" he is coming home...

    Hugs to you, Ann,

  17. Ann, this is such a beautiful tribute, I don't even have words to properly express it.

I didn't know Vic was born in Germany; both my dad and my uncle were too--their parents actually were Latvian. They came to Canada after WWII.

The way I look at it, I was very lucky to have had my dad for the years I did, however short. You were blessed likewise with a loving life with Vic and your children. He will always be a part of your life in your heart. Sending love and light to you.

  28. A beautiful memory page, Ann. May God be with you now and all the days of your life. Hold tight onto the knowledge that you gave to Vic (and your mother) the best part of who you are - your immense kindness, tender love and generous heart. I know that who you are and what you do, and have done, meant the world to them just as it does to all who know you and love you - near or far.

  53. This is so beautiful - a wonderful tribute to Poppy Vic.

Come back only when you are ready. Some counselors and others want to set time limits on the "right amount of time for grieving" - I believe this to be a totally uncaring and inconsiderate not to mention totally wrong concept. Everyone is an individual and no two people grieve exactly the same way or in the same time. We are not going anywhere - we are here when you are ready to return.
Many hugs and prayers for you, the two girls there and the rest of your family.
