EASY

Dear Friends ~ Zoey here.  I've been telling the ZH we need to post some photos again, it has been a little while now.  She kind of moans and groans, and says "maybe ... maybe not".  I try to remind her though, that working on photos and posting here always helped her to smile ~ and she would say "with Zoolatry, I can live for a little while in my happy and imaginary world".  So ... when I reminded her what she would say, she said "OK".
I'm not sure I can get her to post every day, maybe just from time to time right now ... but she also told me that soon, she'll be ready to "make photo-art pictures once again for our friends" ... it's something she loves doing and she wants to return to it.  So, we'll see.
And we're trying to answer all the wonderful emails sent to us, the thoughtful comments here, the cards, the letters ~ but I've heard her say she can only do "a few a day", because it starts to make her sad.  So, if you've not heard from her, trust me, you will.
As for me and Maggy, we're OK.  Well, Maggy is more OK than me.  You see Poppy and I had a special relationship, just us.  Most days I'd sleep in his in-box, get cat fuzz all over his desk and computer ... but the in-box isn't the same now without him sitting behind his desk.  Every night we'd go together to the bathroom, and I would have my "fresh water dinky" from the sink.  The ZH keeps forgetting to do that for me.  Well, she did remember a couple times ~ but she left me there by myself ~ and it was like an hour or more before she remembered to come back and turn off the running water!  Then, of course, she was mad at herself for "running up the water bill".
I've noticed lots of other things are different, too.  Lots of the time the house is too quiet.  And the ZH sometimes forgets to give us our evening treats ~ Poppy never forgot.  And, oh dear, I probably shouldn't mention this, but ... she forgets to tidy the litter boxes ... again, that was something Poppy did.  But you know what friends, me and Maggy forgive her right now, cause her mind and her heart are often somewhere else ... and we know, with time, it will be different once again.
I always used to sleep on their big-king bed, down by the footboard.  I didn't do that for awhile, it didn't seem quite right to me.   But I realized a few days ago that it was making the ZH sad, and so once again, I am on the bed at night, curled up at her feet.  I think she likes that ...

  2. Good girl, Zoey. Sleeping there next to ZH will definitely make her feel better. Be patient and, I'm sure that, before long, the evening treats will always be there for you.

  3. It is difficult getting used to a "new normal". I think you guys are helping Ann so very much, just being there for her, showing her that your life has structure and that gives her purpose! xox

Zoey, we're glad you're sleeping on the bed with ZH again. It *does* help, though the easing of grief takes so very long.

    Purrs and hugs.

  5. I kinda think she wants both of you close. I kinda think that helps a lot. I kinda think you have to take care of her for Poppy Vic, now. You'll all make it through. Takes time to adjust to a new routine. But remember, you'll never forget what's in your hearts. And memories will soon make you smile and warm those sweet hearts of all of you, and take some of the sadness away.

  8. Zoey and Maggy, we are sure not much of anything is "easy" for the ZH right now. It will take time for her to adjust to life without Poppy Vic right there with her. But he will always be in her heart and she will heal. Just give her time and lots of love. We don't think any of us are in any rush for her to get back to doing for others. It really is long overdue time for her to take care of herself. Please give her lots and lots of extra loving and smoochies from all of us.

  12. Good girl Zoey for trying to help ZH with her sadness. We sure do send all of you big hugs and some mighty big head bumps. Joe, the donkey sends his best Hee haw too. We sure are thinking about all of you and like the Woos said, just give that Mom some time. She needs you two kitties right now. Take care.

  13. You two kitties have a very important job to do - taking care of your mom. I remember my mother had to adjust to not having my father around and to remember to do the things he always did. He always took the house keys and we all got locked out of the house on the day of his funeral - Mom forgot the keys. We had to break in with all the guests standing outside waiting to get inside. I could hear my father chuckling from up in heaven. It takes time but you will adjust. Sending hugs and love.

  14. This is a difficult time but Poppy Vic is watching from above and I'm sure he wants to see new pictures of you and Maggie and read what you're up to. TW isn't good at remembering to clean the litter box either. You girls make sure ZH eats and takes care of herself cos that's what's important.

  37. Zoey, for humans, creativity is a balm to the soul, but sometimes the light goes out and it can only come back on by itself. Our best to ZH while she wanders for a while in the darkness, but when her light comes back on, well, she'll at least be more herself. For now, it's up to you and Maggie to carry the flame.
