TUXIE TUESDAY

Many of you have met our purrty Carlacita before ... now mostly called Cita.
She is our feral tuxie girl, who has been with us between three-and-four years.
Early efforts for TNR always failed and over time we gave up trying, so Cita has had several
litters.  It was mostly Vic's job to provide her meals at breakfast and dinnertime.
His office area overlooks the front porch, and Cita would hop up onto the window
ledge, whine or paw at the window to remind him.
In August, he was in hospital two different times.  When he came home from the second
hospital stay on August 17, he asked if I'd remembered to feed Cita each day.
I assured him I had, but told him she'd been gone now for maybe three days, and
reminded him that her belly had been large once again.

I made note of her time "away" on my calendar, guessing that some kits were
on the way and that perhaps by mid-October I'd have the fun of seeing them.
So mid-week last, while sitting on the back porch enjoying the evening breeze, what did
I see but all kinds of  "activity" along the edge of the woods.  Suddenly, a little bitty tuxie
appeared, then another and in a few moments two more kits, both grey and white.
What a joy they are for me.
We now have a full crew to feed, though they scamper away when I bring their
meals out ... so this photo is taken through window glass and screen.
But, oh yes ... what a joy they are to see, Vic would have so enjoyed them.

  1. I have a suspicion that Vic is looking over your shoulder as you enjoy your new little kitties!! They are so cute!! My neighbor just brought home another HUGE cat...she has about four or five already. This latest one has to be about 20 pounds and is really pretty....grey and white!

  8. They're very sweet, Ann. Maybe there's an TNR group in the area that would try to get them, rather than trying to do it yourself? Life is so hard for ferals...and short. Glad they get fed daily, though!

  11. They are so adorable. If the mother is feral, does that mean the kitten are automatically feral too, or if they are caught, can they then be tammed? I don't know much about ferals I'm afraid as I've never been around any. (Mario's mom here).

  13. We have to think that Vic had something to do with those little ones coming to visit - a small way to try to put a smile on your face - so sweet.

  20. It's such a shame he wasn't able to share the joy of seeing the new family for the first time. It was sweet of him to take such good care of mama for so long.

  21. What a cute family. They all look pretty plump so their momma must be doing a good job raising them (with a little help from you). Hopefully they'll all stay healthy and the kits can be rounded up and spayed/neutered.
