When young I had a book called A Child's Garden of Verses which I loved to read again and again, though even more I loved looking at the beautiful watercolor illustrations that accompanied each poem. If memory serves, one of my favorites was The Swing, by Robert Louis Stevenson. Today, for Caturday Art, sponsored each week by Athena and Marie, we've illustrated Dougie Dog's idea of "the swing" and his version of the poem to go with it. For more Caturday Art, visit here.
MY SWING
by Dougie Dog
Oh, how I like to swing in my yard.
And this old Goodyear is perfect for me!
I love to go swinging, to-and-fro,
I don't tire of this you can see!
All the squirrels and bunnies I want to chase,
they run fast and far when I swing.
They're afraid I'll jump down and charge after them, yes!
Oh, my Goodyear's a super fun thing!
[OK, so if you look closely, it's a Michelin not a Goodyear, but I liked the word Goodyear better and that's called poetic license.]
Love it! Have fun, Dougie :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that sure looks like fun Dougie. And such a nice poem to go with the swing. You all have a great day.

I had that same book when I was a little girl. I think I wore it out, it was a favorite.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun piece of art, we would love to swing with you!
ReplyDeleteThat swing was made just for you, Dougie. But if our little bipeds came visiting, they would all be lined up for a turn to swing too.
