WORLD PARROT DAY ~ with KISMET and More

Although we have no birds in our home, setting up a backyard feeding station for our neighborhood birds a couple of years ago was one of the best things we've ever done.  We've seen, and heard so many different species that otherwise would have remained hidden in the trees, never to be enjoyed up close!  Now we watch them feed and bathe, interact with one another, gather twigs and debris for nesting.  They are fascinating, colorful, a joy to watch.  And if you happen to be an early riser, as I am, there is nothing better that to sit outside at dawn ~ the sun begins to rise on a new day, and a symphony surrounds you.  It is calming, meditative and more.  It is truly a good way to begin the day.
The photos above represent just a few of our visitors over the last year.
Our feeding station is closed now, for spring and summer, as it is our belief that our feathered friends should not become totally dependent on us, but during these months should return to finding the foods that Mother Nature generously provides for them.
We'll return to feeding them come late fall and winter.  And I am quite sure, they will return to us as well.

Today is WORLD PARROT DAY ... and we're celebrating our friend KISMET ... be sure to visit and say "hi ... hello ... squaaaawk" ... here's the linky ... VISIT KISMET HERE

We've seen parrots, at the Zoo, of course!  Not sure if that counts, but we're going to share here some "flashback photos" ... of wee-little-parrots called Rainbow Lorikeets.  When we lived in Florida, frequent visits were made to the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, FL and a stop at the bird enclosure was always a must ... to feed and interact with these colorful flyers!  Happy Parrot Day!
