POLKA DOT WEEK (ON TOP OF MY CHAIR)

Most of the time I am not a "lap cat".  This is rather distressing to my Mom.  Oh, when I see that "brusher" in her hand, or hear the words "want some brushies?", believe me, I come running from anywhere I may be, because I do love those brushie times on her lap.  But the minute I decide they are over and done with, I am down and away.
So when she sits down in the evening, in our my polka dot chair, to watch a movie, you will not find me on her lap! BUT you will find me -- always -- on the back of the chair, where I can watch the world go by, observe apartment activities.
The top of my chair is one of my happy places, and up there I can also protect my humom from ever present danger ... And when appropriate, I will comb the hairs atop her head.  If she should forget my 8 pm treat time, the top of the head is easily swatted as is deserved ...

  1. There is hope for your mom, June. For about the first two years Eric ignored laps and preferred to lie on the sofa. Suddenly he decided laps were good. He loved his dad's lap the minute he sat down, and if that wasn't available he would make do with mine.

  2. The top of the chair is the best vantage point, June, as you have discovered! Tell your mom not to be "distressed" that you're not a lap cat; you just show your affection in other ways. Neither Annie nor Nicki was a lap cat; both were sweet and loving in their own ways. :-)

  4. Gramma's cat cuddles with her in bed but in the living room, she sits on the back of the chair just like you do. Maybe it is an age thing and you will learn to be a lap cat as you grow up.

  11. A cat has to do what a cat must do, Junie!
Back-of-the-chair cat seems okay to me; only Celestial Paddy O'Malley was a lap cat, and how I miss his big butt...er, um...heavy weight on me...
    ;-)

  12. We are like you, June. We like brushing, but only as long as WE want it. Once that moment comes, we are off and running. We bet you get quite the good view of what Mom is doing from atop your special spot on the fabulous chair.

  16. That sure is a great spot, Juney. Maybe someday, you will surprise Mom by going in her lap when she least expects it.

  18. Pipo never was very mush of a lap kitty either...but When he became the only kitty, he was a full a lap cat as could be! At least you enjoy being close to your Mom,and grooming is fun, too...Minko loved to do that to pawppy!

  19. Wow! You look so happy and comfy. Kozmo is envious of you on your chair back June. He used to be a "back of the Chair" sitter! If Mom sits in the OLD recliner, he jumps up there too, but the new sofa is leather and he slides off.

  20. Great looking polka dot chair. I won't even sit on a lap for brushies. I'm a hard-core ghetto kitteh.
