CAT NAPS
She curled up on the bed,
and laid down her head.

Now, I was totally confused here as to whether to use "laid down" or "lay down" and so I "asked google" ...
I am thankful this answer helped solve my confusion! NOT!
that's a sweet rhyme...
ReplyDeleteI remember at school we were once told it is laid, and it is chickens that lay eggs. I am sure there was more to it than that but that is the only part I have always remembered. If in doubt I put laid.
ReplyDeleteThat is what I would do too June. I like naps too :)
ReplyDeletePurrs, Julie
i looked at the link and what were they thinking? I would go with my own choice and would say she laid down her head. these days we can all read anything that is written and know what the person meant... that is good and also that is bad..
ReplyDeleteYou have the sweetest ear, Juney, and we love your poem.
ReplyDeleteNo matter the word, sweet June did it purrfectly! Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteEnglish is tricky sometimes!
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm really in doubt, I rewrite my sentence to avoid the problem...hehehe!
Happy nappy. We do the same thing at night when we all go to bed.
ReplyDeleteJune looks happy and content. I don 't worry about proper grammar.
ReplyDeleteThat is for humans.... maybe ;)
Purrs, Julie
Either way, she's adorable!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely clean ears you have my dear! All the better to hear with, you say?

That explanation has my head spinning so much that even tough I have to go to my work, I shall have to lie down, after II lay down my phone...
ReplyDeleteI would much rather just enjoy seeing you all comfy there, lying down, June!
And as pets who speak, we can break all the rules...righht? Righto!
Ann I have tossed those uses around in my head most of my life. Love that link.
ReplyDeleteI think I under stand now!!
Hugs cecilia
We'll have to save that grammatic explanation. Hope you had a good nap, June.

ReplyDeleteThe English language is a confusing one! I've been writing professional since 2006, and I still have to go look things up!
ReplyDeleteEnglish can be confounding and confusing at the best of times. Whether it's right or wrong, i do loke the poem.

Purrs and head bonks, Marv
ReplyDeleteMom think if you are going to place or put someTHING down, it should be laid. But how that works with one's head is another wonder:). Sweet dreams, June.
