Kitty Korner?
Catty Corner?
Caterways, caterwise, cater (as in catering to your cat!), quatre (French) for quarters, diagonally/crosswise.
Some might suggest both are uniquely American expressions.
Here we just have a cat in a corner looking at a cat in a corner, trick photography.

Meow said one cat, you have a big belly.
Meow said the other cat, so do you.
Catty kitties, aren't they?

that's no cat-astrophe just a sign that life is good ;O)
ReplyDeleteIt's always been catty corner in my vocabulary. But I always hear it kitty corner also. And it looks to me like the apartment might get a little crowded with a June and a June and a Junetoo. But crowded in a very good way. More fur to pet.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard either expression, but I prefer Kitty Corner. It is so nice to click on your link in Readly and not get that horrible red banner any more!
ReplyDeleteWe go with kitty corner but you need a more square belly to fit correctly, LOL!
ReplyDeleteSo, that is the catty kitty corner ;)
ReplyDeleteMOL!

ReplyDeleteThat's a kittycatty corner in the picture, for sure! I always heard cattycorner in MidAtlantic country when growing up. I have a screenshot of a discussion of this on an fb page, Grammer Girl, in a computer I can't access right now. If my recall is right, someone says kitty corner is used in the Midwestern US. There's even a book called "Kitty Cornered" by Michigan author Bob Tarte. I like either expression, because, cats!
ReplyDeleteOh, but the cattie kitties are so cute!
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

ReplyDeleteYour corner of the world looks pretty nice sweet June!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you need to slouch
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how such idioms come to be, sometimes we can trace them, sometimes not, but they certainly don't translate well as much as we enjoy using them.
ReplyDeleteWell, whatever it is, we are always in YOUR corner, Juney! XO
ReplyDeleteHee, hee...that's a pretty cute kitty-corner!
