Today, the 248th year of our Declaration of Independence.
Upon leaving the Constitutional Convention in 1787, Benjamin Franklin was asked
what kind of government the delegates had formed.
"A republic, if you can keep it," he replied.
Can we? Will we?
Will we be able to declare independence when the 250th year arrives?
Will enough, will many voices now declare "I dissent".
Or will the many continue to be lemmings to the sea?
we wish the US all the best.. and we hope we can celebrate many birthdays together...
ReplyDeleteI pray for continued democracy. I hope the votes make a difference.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty scary to think about. Happy Independence Day, Miss Ann and Juney!
ReplyDeleteI am very much afraid the lemmings to the sea might be the answer to the question. we need to enjoy our Freedom today, it might be gone tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat's very thought-provoking sweet June, and that is a good thing. Thanks for joining Angel Brian's Thankful Thursday Blog Hop and Happy Independence Day!
ReplyDeleteDearest Ann,

It is a scary time for sure, and we hope never to lose the great freedom we have. Our democracy needs to be protected from those that would destroy it.

ReplyDeleteA blessed and beautiful Happy Independence Day to you! May freedom continue to ring.
ReplyDeleteI like that flag a lot more
ReplyDeleteThose are very deeply thoughtful musings, June...and we hope that there will never be so much dissent that we fall apart at the seams. Let everyone apprise themselves of the info they need to make wise decisions...so we won't be those lemmings. Crowd influence can be so damaging.
ReplyDeleteOops, we forgot to say, we hope you both had a good Independence Day!
ReplyDeleteI do hope the people of the US make the right choice!
ReplyDeleteWe're holding on to hope.
ReplyDeleteWe, too, hope that freedom still rings for years to come.
