"I'm sure you must be weary, with soaring up so high,
Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the spider to the fly.
"There are pretty curtains drawn around, the sheets are fine and thin;
and if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in."
"Oh no, no!" said the little fly, "for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"
Stanza II, THE SPIDER AND THE FLY
Mary Howitt (1799-1829)
that is super pawetry... we understand the fly... totally...
ReplyDeleteJune, I don't understand either. I also don't understand how come the man who rubs my belly, smashed my moth in the kitchen this morning. Precious
ReplyDeleteChasing bugs and flies can be a lot of fun for a kitty. Just don't push too hard on the screen.
ReplyDeleteThat fly was very sensible to fly away from you, June.
ReplyDeleteI assume the fly was outside, how would one get in your apartment? I also wonder how it got that high in the air, we were told at the museum that they built cowboy bunks 2 stories high in 1700 because mosquitoes can't fly that high.. might have to research that. ha ha you look so sweet whatever you do
ReplyDeleteLove your poem, Juney! I suspect the fly knew that you would bat at him and have fun doing it☺
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute sweet June. I hope it comes back for a visit soon.
ReplyDeleteFlies are fun to bat around and run off. Our kitties love them too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Scritches to June. ♥
Maybe she'll come back???
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Flies are funny that way. Paranoid little things. Always suspicious of our intentions."
ReplyDeleteLulu: "But you DO plan to eat the fly if you catch it, right?"
Charlee: "Oh of course."
That fly was doing some high flying for sure, June!
ReplyDeleteOh June, your face is PRICELESS!
ReplyDeleteBut even if the fly flew away—you enjoyed chasing it and trying to swat it down.
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties
How could anyone turn down such an of-fur, June?
ReplyDeleteJune what a darlin' post.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I remembered the Spider and the Fly so thank you for sharing.
I leave insects alone as long as they stay out of my house. Once the come their days are numbered.
I'm glad Mom liked the birdhouses.
Hugs Cecilia
BOL!! Poor Junie...flies are just fickle, it's not like you were going to snack on it, right??
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Rosy & Sunny
June, that was a smarter than average fly!
ReplyDeleteTell your mom that I used to go to the Cornell vet site for cat health issues, but didn't realize they had that awesome bird app!
Waving to your faithful followers from your perch high above them?

ReplyDeleteHmm.Tthat was a pretty clever fly, Juney!
ReplyDeleteFlies are sneaky. XO
ReplyDeletePoor June! You look so disappointed that the fly left you. We hope you find a new one to play with soon.
ReplyDeleteBetter luck next time!
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't like the idea of being a flying snack, I guess. There's no pleasing some creatures.
