THANK YOU, TERRY! ~ UPDATING, WITH COMMENTARY

Thank you, Terry ...

I posted the above around 4:30 am today.  Now, I feel compelled to update this post with my own comment.
Yesterday, I sent a blind-copy email to over 400 bloggers in our pet community.
Some are active daily bloggers, others posting only parttime, and many
no longer blogging at all, but have always asked to "stay on my list".
I've received volumes of replies to that email, all positive, in agreement.

I shared the post and remarks from the Editor of The Cat Blogosphere,
Terry Frum, announcing that he will retire at the end of the year
and giving his reasons why.
One reason being he was wrongfully called out by an individual, one who is not
even someone who posts or is active in our pet community!  Why?

Well, we can only speculate.
I'd suggest that if this person lived in the USA he/she might have become infected
by all the nasty political rhetoric and ease of
speaking hate talk rampant in our nation today.

But no, this one is across the pond ... so this disease is spreading far and wide.
Social media.
Once meant to be a place for friendship and sharing, not now.
Blogging, whether for our beautiful pets ... travel, recipes, family, or more.
Contaminated and damaged by hateful words.

So, this person should look in the mirror, but only darkness will look back.

The rest of you reading this will, I believe, look in the mirror
and you will see light reflected and goodness.
And I like to think that will lead all to no longer share words of hurt.
No longer share names.  No longer call out others, and not to lay blame at
someone's feet, even if righteous, for such will only prolong this.
And this must stop.
Stop.

  2. You and Celesta have done so much for the Cat Blogosphere over the years, and I thank you both from the bottom of my heart. Of course I appreciate all of the team, but this is about you and how you have been so upset by a mean minded person's remark who doesn't even blog any more.

  4. I sincerely hope that I haven't made any comments that would be thought of as harsh or judgmental, as we are all here to share our love of our furry friends, and then gush over everyone else's furry friends.
Our world has gotten so demanding, that folks just aren't coping with the barrage of information, and maybe they aren't using their filters before typing.
    Good post, Anne.

  6. It's sad that one bad apple can ruin such a good thing. Terry has been an invaluable part of the pet blogging community and his services will be missed.

  12. Charlee: "All I know is, Oona has been sharpening up her claws ever since she heard about somebody being rude to Terry, and she is scary enough to begin with ..."

  13. My mama always told me when pointing a finger of blame at someone, I needed to first look in the mirror and point...
lo and behold I was pointing at myself.

  14. Very nicely said, Ann. Thank You. And a big thank you to Terry for doing such a great job for so long. Having worked on the "Our Rainbow Friends" blog for so many years, I know first-hand how much time and effort does go into putting together and keeping up with such a big project. Enjoy your retirement, Terry.

  17. Being kind is so easy. Mr. Terry says to be kind and move on, but where will be move on to, without the CB?

  19. We shall add our voice to the many and thank all who run and in any way contribute to the Cat Blogosphere. You are truly appreciated. I do not know the person who caused the upset, but such bad karma will come on them from such a needless, and rude act. Thank you, Terry, for all you do, and for bearing the cost for doing it – financial and otherwise. I do hope someone else is able to step up to help. . . .

  20. We are filled with gratitude for the entire Catblogosphere Team, and have two words for you all - EPICALLY EPIC! It is so sad when a person has an opinion, then uses threats, not pleasant, just not cricket. We say FLUFF THEM! 0h, and we just sent mew an email.... Happy Sunday to mew both! 😻🐾🐾😻

  21. Very well said, Ann. One person's mean and unfair words have escalated, and now it needs to stop. Terry knows that the Cat Blogosphere supports him.

  22. Messages on social media need to stay positive. There's that old saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

  23. We were very sad to hear about Terry's resignation but especially for the reason why. I just don't understand people and why they feel compelled to make nasty snide remarks. People seem to have forgotten the adage "if you can't say something nice, keep your trap shut."

  24. The Cat Blogosphere - and absolutely and most importantly those who work so hard to make it what it is - especially Terry - has always been a wonderful and warm place. Sadly the situation in the world seems to have made some people incapable of seeing that there is still SO MUCH FOOD and SO MUCH to be thankful for that they speak before they think. Terry will be missed beyond words to describe how much. That photo is SO VERY TERRY. Cats, kindness, caring - it's plain to see on his face. As I told you, if I was a lot younger and not "phasing out" my own blog at this point in my life I can imagine The Cat Blogosphere to be an incredible opportunity to contribute to the wonderful world if cats..............Thanks to you too dear Ann.

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

  25. I don't blame Terry one bit! He was worked his butt off for years and years and years. I'm not 100% sure what happened or what the person said, but people should be appreciative of all of the hard work done by Terry and and others of you for years and years.
