TRUDY and TOM

Yes, wild turkeys can fly.
Short distances that is, and at considerable speed.
Though they generally only do so to escape predators or to sleep safely in trees at night.
Domesticated turkeys no longer have the ability to fly, mostly due to being
overweight and kept caged as they await their ultimate fate of visiting your table.

  1. We have a Trudy that will be visiting our table in a few days. They really are very pretty birds.

  2. Wild turkeys are a big problem where Gramma lives. The travel in a big group and they enjoy hanging out at the convenience store down the road. They cause traffic jams and they even attach customers at the store. Sometimes we see some on our early morning walks when we are by the woods around our house.
