Oh dear, mine Mommy!
Yesterday, THE CAT BLOGOSPHERE remembered it was our 19th Blogoversary,
but you ~ you furgots! Yes, I did, little June.
but you ~ you furgots! Yes, I did, little June.
So, what are you gonna do, back-up and tell a story? I suppose so.
About what? Well, the only thing I can think of on short notice, is
that maybe some people don't know about is "why the red-and-white striped sox?"
I mean they do know about you, the polka dot kitty, but those sox show up
here, there and maybe we should tell that story.
I'd find that boring, meowz.
I guess you would, it's before your time. Anyway. Short notice, got nothing else.
It began a long time ago. You didn't know him, but "Poppy Vic" had a
blog called CAT IN THE BAG, and I was planning to start a blog, too.
I wanted a generic name, and looked in the dictionary starting with the letter Z.
Found the word ZOOLATRY, "worship of animals" and that
was good enough for me. But that's not a story about sox, Mommy.
Oh, yes, the sox. Well, I also needed the avatar, an identity.
And "Poppy Vic" pawed in again. He said you're always wearing those
sleep-sox around the house, the red-and-white striped ones, use those!
I thought he'd gone a bit, well, you know ... but he kept insisting, saying,
the sox, they're so you ... stand on that step stool, I'll take photos, you'll see, cute ...
so I did and he did.
I guess Poppy Vic was as silly as you are, sometimes, meowz.
Sadly "Poppy Vic" is gone, and so are those sox ...
It wound up, upside-down sox looked more interesting. And it also wound up that
I preferred to artify the sox and played with them for days on end with my
then old version of Adobe Photoshop. Guess I didn't want chubby-feet or
fuzzy sox, wanted to project sleek and slim. Can you blame a girl?
No, I'd rather look sleek and slim, not chubs ... meowz.
And that avatar? Well, it's changed a bit over the years, now
to the simple blog name and striped sox of today. Think we'll stick with that.
On blog posts, with pets over the years, on our email signature and
on random art, always will. Red-and-white striped sox, plenty of real ones
in my sox drawer, to wear, really.
At the end of the day, put your feet up, with or without sox, relax,
be thankful you've been gifted another day.
And that guy who started it all, with his crazy sox idea, thank you.
Loved you then, still do ... paws up, and feet too ...
