FUNNY PICTURE FRIDAY

Do you have a favorite time of day?  When I think about it, I have a lot of favorite times: nap time, meal time, nap time, treat time, nap time, and of course, nap time.  One other favorite time is around 7 o'clock in the evening.  OMC, that's when the humans kick off their shoes and watch the news.  And I LOVE shoes!  You know I can tell a lot about what they've been up to all day long with just a strategic sniff here or there... for example I definitely can get a whiff of Porch Kitty and her family from Poppy Vic's shoes. Did I mention the laces?  My dental floss! Sorry, I've gotta go find me some more shoes right now... I think the rug-puppy left a pair of his in the other room, and those teenytinyittybitty shoes are the most fun!

THE MANGO MINSTER 2011 CONTEST

Hey Kitties [and woofies], Mango and Dexter are having a great contest ~ right now!
Just click here to read the rules and enter.  And if you want to visit with
Mango and Dexter at their blog, just click here
I decided to enter cause even tho they are dogs
there's a special entry called "KITTEHS" and that's what I am!
First off, I went to visit Mango ~ you know he is big, really BIG!
But as big as he is, I wasn't a scaredy-cat, cause he is real gentle and laid back.
At 230 pounds and eating up to 15 pounds of food each week ~ I'd be like
an hors d'oeuvre to him.  By way of introduction
(I was always told it was polite to bring a gift when visiting) I took him some mangoes...
I'm a Florida girl, and around here the mangoes just fall from the trees.
As part of the contest, Mango asked some questions about us "kittehs" ...
I've answered a few here with words and pictures.
QUESTION: When your human calls your name do you feign interest
or outright ignore them?
Below are three of my ways to respond, or not, as the case may be.
QUESTION: A moth is in the house.  Do you kill it and consume it,
or toy with the hapless thing, etc. ?
Consume it, not!  Toy with it, never!  Below, what I think about "other" creatures...
QUESTION: Do you ignore expensive gifts, etc. ?
Never, ever, ever!  Wrap me, hat me, shoe me.  The purrtier the better.  More bling
and sparkle is good.  And jewelry: I must have my toof rings...
QUESTION: Do you bury your poop or build a mountain top, etc. ?
Friends, as you will note below, I am fastidious, meticulous, and whatever
other similar words you would find in a thesaurus if you looked... in short,
I am a polite cat and really prefer not to discuss poop (I've no idea who put
the word dingleberries in that photo below... horrors.)

In closing I would like to show two of my fave photos ~ and these same two
represent my mantra and my blogs mantra, so to speak:
Here I am, in the palace of Versailles, in my best Bonaparte costume:
he is famed for having said and I agree:
"Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever."
Me, always looking for a smile or a laugh, so my blogs mantra is often
"Send in the clowns."

TUESDAY IS TRASH DAY

A conversation I overhead in the Zoolatry house earlier this morning ...
"Poppy Vic, did you put the trash down this morning?"
"Boo, today's not trash pick up day."
[yes, furriends, he has called her "Boo" for about 38 years now, sorry]
"Well, then I think it's the day we put the recycle stuff down..."
"No, that was yesterday."
_________________________________
Now I'm not so much concerned about trash day, however, there are
times when I think they might consider recycling me ...

MAGGY MONDAY

I don't understand why I should pick up all the toys?
They are not my toys.  I do not play with toys.
Zoey plays with toys.  These are Zoey's toys.  Make Zoey pick up the toys...
PS to Brian: I know you have a lot of sisters, but apparently they
are nice ones.  Just as an FYI, mine is not...

THE SUNDAY NEWSPAPER

MEMO TO: All Cat and Dog Bloggers:
Slave, opposable thumb, food person, biped, office assisant or typist: whatever
you may call that fur-less, two-legged creature who lives with you,
we'd like to remind you it is now time for their Annual Purr-Fur-Mance Review.
Last year brought about a fair amount of hissing and whining, meowing and wooing,
all because our furry furriends never got a chance to "review" their humans blog purr-fur-mance for the year!  Yeah, yeah, Maggy and I heard the ZH say over and over again,
"girls, we just don't have time".  (yeah, that'll impact her review fursure)
Well, one would think she would make time.  After all, don't these "humans" know that any salary increase, bonuses, awards, 401KAT contributions ~ well, they're all purr-fur-manced based.
Now, of course, that does not include all you senior kitties out there (sorry),
you all know that social secatity payments have been frozen for two-years (sorry again).
You're still encouraged to complete a review and
everyone is asked to post their reviews on the same date ~ Friday, February 18, 2011,
and be sure to include a link to your review on the Cat Blogosphere.
Below, many of our friends recently held an office meeting to discuss upcoming reviews,
so join in, it's fun and we'll get a chance to know the truth-and-lies or
the good-the bad-and-the ugly, about those humans behind the scenes...
Here is a suggested review form as prepared by our Human Resources Department
(properly called Purrsonel).  Yes, this document is cat-oriented, we humby suggest all the woos
paraphrase as need be.  Also, as this review form is somewhat generic in nature,
feel free to add your own cat-egories for review.  One lowly human (speaking anonymously)
wanted to remind the furry ones that bad reviews could result in a lesser amount of
treats, Temptations, outside travel, etc., so do
be cognizant of the risks when completing your review.
Feel free to copy the review form for your reference if needed; just right click and save.
You know, Purrsonel people tend to get a bit detail-oriented, so below are three sidebar tags.
You can right click & save on the large, medium or small, as best fits your blog.
These tags show you are participating in the review process and will alert your readers
and viewers to visit and read the review on 2.18.2011.

And finally, we will send periodic reminders out to ensure none furget to complete
and post their review on February 18, 2011.
Is it paws up?  Or tails down?

PHOTO HUNT ~ "FREE" WEEK

Did you ever just lay on the grass on a sunny, summery day?  Watching the puffy clouds roll by?
Finding magical things in their shapes?
Maybe you still do that ~ a child or grandchild laying along side you.
Our back porch is fairly large, many windows all 'round.  The floor is all large ceramic tiles.
To me ~ this is just a tile floor ~ often covered with cat fur, often in need of a good mop-up!
Others may see it differently . . .
But perhaps it is not just a tile floor.  I recently noticed Zoey, nose to the floor.
Immobile.  Intent.  What was she looking at?

So, I took a photograph of the tile floor ~ do you see what I see?
Do you see what Zoey saw?
Just like puffy clouds on a sunny, summery day...
So, look around ~ look at your world a little differently
and find a little magic in all you see.

THE TIMES, THEY ARE A-CHANGIN'

Hi, Zoey here ~ I've been trying to figure out why the ZH has been a little sad all this week, and sometimes even a little bit teary-eyed.  And I think I know what's going on.  Just because a New Year begins, it does not always signal a dramatic change in ones life.  This year though, it's a little different in the Zoolatry house, because there has been a big change.  To share a little history, the ZH left the workaday world in 2001 and soon began to care for her elderly Mom, the Great-Grandma, who came to live with us.  Last year in early February, she kind of went to the other end of the calendar of life and began to also care for her new grandbaby, Arjun.  Throughout the days, weeks and months that followed, we had the Daily Diaper Challenge (large ones vs small ones) and the Revenge of the Bottles, trying to be sure milk went in the baby bottle and coke went in the sippy cup and we didn't switch them around! Those were interesting times.  On Good Friday, last April, our Great-Grandma crossed her rainbow bridge; we still think of her and miss her, each and every day.  Life goes on. JuneyBug was becoming bigger and stronger and more active.  Only a few weeks had passed when we learned that Poppy Vic was fighting cancer and chemotherapy would soon begin.  The ZH would again expand her role of caregiver. Today, Poppy Vic is coming along well, and in another two months those nasty treatments will come to an end.  But this week, the ZH saw her caregiving role evolve yet again when little JuneyBug went off to day care. The ZH said she just wasn't strong enough (you can spell that y-o-u-n-g enough) to keep up with a toddler, but that doesn't mean she doesn't miss him ~ a whole lot!  It will just be for three days each week, and he'll come here for two days as the ZH said, "no way, can I give him up altogether!".  Yes, the times they are a-changin'...
I helped him drive to day care for his first day. He did complain a bit about my back-seat driving but I told him I knew he couldn't read the road signs yet, so I should help.  Then I went home and played with all his cool toys.  I played with them all by myself!

THANKFUL THURSDAY

I am thankful this handbag has very few green-papers in it.

EASY, LIKE SUNDAY

Hi, Maggy here ~ nothing much I like better on a Sunday morning than curling up with the days newspaper and a nice cup of hot coffee.  The ZH and Poppy Vic are plodding around in their robes and slippers, well, the ZH is in her stripey-sox ~ and they aren't so great with conversation or chin scritches early in the a.m.

And today's paper just has a
ton of news you can use ~ first, the Front Page
As you can see, Zoolatry is all over the front page this morning, with some interesting
announcements about "things to come".

I'm not sure how ZoZo managed to sneak her photo onto the front page,
but be that as it may ~ read on ~

Here, I turned the paper upside-down so you could see the Front Page
Then on to the Sport Section and look what I found ~
the return of International Cat In A Box day.
This was a special event we sponsored in 2008 and 2009, but could not manage to pull
together last year ~ but furriends, it's coming back!  So watch for upcoming details!

I quickly take a peek at the Classifieds & Employment section (not much there, specially
in the way of employment!) ~ but I found that it is time to do the
Annual Purr-Fur-Mance Reviews of those humans, food purrsons, opposable thumbs
that help us with our blogging.  So, again, watch for upcoming details!

Then over in the Lifestyle Section I came across a news story about the famous (or infamous)
Wordy Wednesday Challenge.  An event held in 2007, 2008 and 2009 (!!!) but one
we missed out on hosting last year.  This was a fun event for the many furs who took
part ~ details to be posted soon!

The last section I read is the Editorials & Opinions page, and the Letters to the Editor.
I like to spend a lot of time on these pages ~ pondering whether I agree or disagree!
Today I found a favorite old cartoon of the ZH ~ Poppy Vic sent this to her at one time and
said, "looks like you"!  Ha, she wasn't all that pleased, though she secretly agreed.

Anyway, as you can see the Letters to the Editor and todays Editorial both highlight
the lack of lifeguards on our beaches.  Of course, Zoey and I do our part, but when our
furs get wet (especially that yukky salt water), well we get sooooooo matted.
Anyway, as you can see (if you're a Zoolatry old timer that is)... those upsidedown stripey-sox
mean we're going on a little blog break.  Purrsonally, Zoey and I think she just overdid the holiday
sweets 'n' treats!  But though she's stuck her head in the sand once again
(or in this case, in the ocean waves) ~ we'll be back!  We're gonna work up all the details
on the "coming soon special events" and in the meantime you can MOL to us, or BOL to us.
Meow.
We'll post notices here on Zoolatry, and on the Cat Blogosphere about each of these events.
If you're not on our Meow-Mail list to receive information [there are a lot of
new bloggers out there], feel free to EMail us and we'll add you to it, so you won't miss out!

FRIENDS FRIDAY

And so another year in the life of Zoolatry comes to a close.  It surprises us when we stop and realize we began blogging in 2007 and will soon reach 2000 postings!  It pleases us that we have made so many, very special friends over these years.  We have had the amazing opportunity to share fun and laughter, happy times, holidays and special events.  Through sad times, we have been privileged to honor those who have crossed the rainbow bridge, leaving good memories with us forever.  Though most of us speak through our pets, our beloved cats and dogs, through this we have also come to know and care deeply for many human friends.  At Zoolatry, the past year has had its share of ups-and-downs and we have been blessed by the support and kind words shared by so many of you.  For all this we are very thankful.  And our hope for each of you is a New Year that is full, healthy, happy and prosperous.  From the Zoolatry Girls, Maggy and Zoey and Ann ~ we say Happy New Year and Thank You!

THANKFUL THURSDAY

It has been very, very cold in Florida and we are not used to it.
So I am thankful for a warm cozy blankie to nap on and a good furriend to share it with.

WORDLESS and WORDY

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY
 WORDY WEDNESDAY
A few words about CB auctions: Goodness Gracie does an outstanding job
managing frequent cat blogosphere auctions.  These raise funds for our furriends who
have large vet bills, or need green papers for help in other ways.
Right now, there's a fabulous auction in progress to help BRIGHTON of
Curlz and Swirlz.  You'll find lots of great items and when you place a bid, you'll
be helping those in need.  So, if you haven't done so, click below and visit today:

TUESDAY TOYS

That little rug-puppy has lots of cool toys.  I like his toys.
One of my favorites is this little rubber ball.
I saw it roll over by the fireplace, and he kind of forgot it was there.
Maybe I can grab it!  Success!
He's not so good about sharing just yet, but then
come to think of it, neither am I.
Mostly I play with his toys after he goes home.

EASY, LIKE SUNDAY

. . . we must rest, after all, it's only 365 days til Christmas . . .

CHRISTMAS THANK YOU

See the mistletoe, girls?  Do you know what it means?
It's time to send furry kisses 'n' warm hugs 'n' tail wags 'n' chin scritches 'n' nose taps
to all our furriends.
And to say thank you to each and every one for being our furriends,
and for being with us throughout this past year.
(now may I please have my stripey sox back?)
