JULY 1, 2022

O Dani ~ O Dani ~ O Dani - O

What a beautiful girl we have to represent Canada on their special day.  (and our own June is happy to call her "my best girl furriend") and we so enjoy her creative and humorous hu-mom, too!  There are lots of pet bloggers in Canada, so be sure to visit them all today.  If by chance you haven't met Dani, paw over to her bloggie for fun and puns, imaginative art and more.  CLICK HERE.

Today is also American Zoo Day ~ and admittedly, though we may personally hold mixed feelings about zoos, without them we would not have been blessed to see and learn about so many species in our world.  More and more zoos now are creating natural habitats for their animals and providing important research as they study their lives.  It is important work.  Below, a few stylized images of animals seen on a visit to the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, DC.

  4. O Canada!
Wonderful bloggers based in Canada, and we can see Canada when we drive along the lakeshore.
People have asked The Hubby if he is Canadian, which he is kind of because some of his family tree is from there.

  11. Hi June! (Marv waves wildly!) Happy Canada Day! Dani is the bestest. We (well Mom) remembers her predecessors...Queen Nellie was secretly in love with Dante. You have a most busy month, and thanks for all the wonderful new badges! BTW - My hu-man's Gramma was from Saskatchewan too! Now we are off for the fireman's breakfast. All our firepeople (we have a few women on the crew) are volunteers and boy can they cook! Purrs Marv

  12. Glad to see a June in July! Our 4th is so noisy anywhere you live, so I'll be hiding a lot. Precious

  14. When our boys were small, we often had visits to that Zoo, too. Since DC is where hubby's Mom lived.
If we were there on July Fourth, we would watch the fireworks from one of the highr spots near to her home...a good view, without the huge crowds!

Today I hung out our Canadian Flag, and wore one of my 'Canada' shirts. I miss being there on this day...maybe one day in the future...in fact due to the pandemic I have not been there since 2019. Last there for a Canada Day before 2011...sigh...

I have to work the next three days...no Fourth parties or fireworks for me...its my turn to work this holiday...

  15. You have so much going on here today -- you've been so busy. Thanks for featuring us and for the encouraging introduction. I'm guessing that's little Arjun at the zoo, surrounded by all the animals. Your stylized images of the zoo creatures are indeed, most stylish, tee-hee. You certainly have this art down pat!
