All the kids 'n' kits are back to school now.
And I'm not in kittengarten anymore!
I was kinda sorta worried about riding the skool bus since I'm real shy, but then
mine Mommy said I would be home skooled so I was very happy.
These are my new crayons to color with as long as I don't use them on rugs or furniture,
walls or blankies. Only on paper, like to decorate my paper tents!
I wanted a backpack for skool. Maybe I'll get one for my gotcha day.
And maybe some crayons that are littler and fit in my paws better ...
Meowing 'bout skool, mine Mommy is kinda sorta happy too.
Cause she works with a teacher who brings a group of high school students
here each week. They are all drama students from the
Baltimore School for the Arts and it's really a cool thing she says,
where the "young and young at heart" get together.
The peoples here in this senior building come and together with these
students they all act out impromptu skits and little plays ... or sing,
no dancing, cause some here use walkers and canes!!!
They laugh with each other, tell stories, ask questions about life
and being young vs being not so young anymore.
Mine Mommy awards a door prize at the end each week and
gives everyone a "sweet treat" and we all look forward to
our next time together.
You are going to have so much fun with your new crayons and we can't wait to see what you create, Juney!
ReplyDeleteThat will be nice for you to be home schooled, June. That is a lovely ides for the drama students to visit once a week. It makes for a good interaction between the two age groups.
ReplyDeletethat is a mighty fine idea... to learn at home is the best... we prefer that too
ReplyDeleteWe too are home schooled for the most part. It is too hard to find a class that fits our needs so Mom works with us on her own and we attend random seminars. What a nice idea to have that group come to your building and work with seniors. It is good for both groups.
ReplyDeleteJune, you look so cute with your big crayons, I'm sure you'll learn alot! And that sounds like a fabulous weekly gathering for your Mommy!
ReplyDeleteJune the actors coming to visit and act is purrfect.
ReplyDeleteCute photo of June and her big crayons. It is a great idea to have the student perform for the seniors. I like the quote young and young at heart! Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteOur schools go back 2nd week in August here in Scotland! Great photo, get colouring in with the crayons :-D
ReplyDeleteJune, you look ready to create your colourful masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteI love that weekly visit with the drama students, what a terrific idea. Good for everyone of all ages!
June what a darlin' photo of you and your crayons...I always loved the smell of a fresh box of Crayola Crayons.
ReplyDeleteOMCs what fun the folks in your building have with the very talented children
Hugs Cecilia
Homeschool sounds better than going out!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that your mom works with the students from the Arts school! Sounds like a great program.
ReplyDeleteWe think it is wonderful for your Mommy to be involved in such a cool learning program. We bet the young and the not so young learn so much from each other!!
ReplyDeleteWe know you will learn lots this year, June. What a great program that is with the BSA and the "older" folks.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I ever watched a Mr. Roger's Neighborhood episode, was when they showed how crayons are made; I've never forgotten that, and I continue to enjoy watching 'how it's done' video.
Maybe that location also needs a resident cat or three, for the folks who live there to have purrs.
Oh June ~ you are adorable with your colorful school crayons ~ hugs,

ReplyDeleteDid you know that there are Yeowww crayons, even better than nip nanners. XO
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant thing your mom and the teacher do for both the residents and the students! Everyone benefits.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your home school lessons will be ones you can pick up on very well and easily.
Charlee: "Orange crayon! Our Dada approves!"
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fun thing to be involved with! The young meeting the older ones is great. It teaches respect at both ends, and fosters empathy too.
ReplyDeleteDid you draw anything fun on your paper tent June?
Well June, those crayons are definitely yours, since they have your name on them. But yep, some smaller ones might work better. (Just don't eat them.) That time with the school kids sounds really fun. I was wondering if the kids might, just maybe, but they don't have to, enjoy a smiling dog like me...*big wags* Lucy
ReplyDeleteI hope you learn lots of new things this school year, June!
