PHOTO HUNT: BOOKS

I think it is very important for every kitteh to be well read. How else can we live up to the standard of "smarty cat"? I have many good books, one of my favorites is THE TOOTH BOOK by Dr. Seuss. Another favorite book was written and illustrated by Karl, of The Cat Realm and he sent a copy to me. It is a book loaded with helpful hints for kittehs (sort of an Erma Bombeck for four-footed furry ones) -- such as "keep your teeth clean: chew your bones". I always kind of wondered if Karl had me in mind for that particular hint! And like our human companions, I like to keep some reading material in that special "reading room" I refer to as my "litter library". I'm sure you have a litter-library in your house... you do, don't you?

THANKFUL THURSDAY

I would have thought that by her age, the Zoolatry Human would have learned how to tie her shoes. But it became obvious to me sometime ago, that she does poorly with this daily task. So each morning when I see her grab her sneakers off the shelf, I rush to assist.
Now, the art of shoe tying can be difficult. Particularly since we kittehs have no thumbs. I do however, find that my special toof is a big help. Sometimes I get a little tired after tying up one shoe and I go off to rest.
And then there are those mornings when I am ambitious, and I get both shoes done. She should be thankful. I think she should thank me with a treat or two, or three, or more...

WORDY WEDNESDAY

We hope our friends will stop by at

Romeo's this week ~

leave a word or two in support of the

Space Coast Feline Network. Thanks!
The Space Coast Feline Network formally began the day before New Year's 1996 at Kennedy Space Center with the rescue of Mr. No Ears, a beat up old tomcat who had lost both of his ears from years of fighting. Within the first three years, more than 100 cats and kittens were rescued at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC). The origin of these feral cats has been traced many years back to before the commencement of the Space Shuttle program. Based upon extensive research of successful feral cat management in various communities in the United States, Space Coast Feline Network took a different approach. Club members began by successfully finding homes for all of the kittens rescued at KSC, and by caring for the feral adults, who were given living quarters at a temporary site on KSC property. These cats were spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Of the original 100 cats/kittens trapped, 49 were adopted, 21 housed at the site, and the rest fostered by volunteers. Only a few had to be euthanized due to illness or injuries. Space Coast Feline Network has since expanded it's scope to include feral cats within Brevard County, with many volunteers giving time and money to care for, sterilize and vaccinate feral cats colonies in Brevard. The above information is from the Space Coast Feline Network website. To learn more, just click on this link: http://www.scfntnr.org/

TINY TUESDAY

I (MAGGY) was a year old when I came to live at Zoolatry. So the humans never knew me or saw me as a kitten. And I (ZOEY) was about 5-months old. So I was small, but not tiny... and even though I am now three years old, I still look and act like a baby kitten. They say I'm their forever kitten!
The Zoolatry Humans have always wondered what we might have looked like as itty bitty kitties... so they found this picture on the internet... we might have looked like this, once upon a time...
Even though we don't know who the kitties in our picture are... looky here at a new kitty blogger ~ MELVIN at MOUCHOIS. Isn't he just the cat's meow? Melvin is a tiny little tea-cup himmie and he is just 3-months old now. We think he will grow up to be a very, very handsome and wonderful himmie-mancat.
Stop by and say hello to Melvin and wish him well.

Melvin ~ Mouchois

Also, today, we want to thank our friends Miss Tasha, Dobby and Franklin, who live at MISHKAT and have been so kind as to have Maggy and Zoey on their blog today. Please stop by and give them a friendly nose-tap!

Happy Birthday, ML

PHOTO HUNT: PLASTIC

When we are by the pool,
we always have our slushies in PLASTIC cups.
That's the safe thing to do.
And we when go to the beach, we always take
along a PLASTIC sandpail and PLASTIC shovel
because they are fun in the sand.

MY BEAUTIFUL GIRL

I love looking at Maggy. To my eyes,
she is extraordinarily beautiful.
I enjoy sitting quietly and observing her,
this can be a very peaceful and calming time for me.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Lots of my friends get to spend lots of their time outside, on walks, in their gardens. Like Siena, and Jonesie and Jasper and lots more. I think they should be very thankful for that. I am just an indoor cat. I don't get to stop and smell the flowers (as they say). But I guess I should be thankful that the Zoolatry Human "made" a garden for me. I think it's quite pretty and colorful. It's too bad you can't smell the flowers in my garden. But then, maybe I should be thankful for that, as they would make me sneeze and sniffle. I have a very flat nose. My family thinks my nose is cute, but I do not like to have my nose get sniffly. I'm thankful that doesn't happen very often. You know, sometimes it's very confusing about what to be thankful for and what not to be thankful for.

HIDE 'N' GO SEEK #101

I see you here.
And I see you here.
And I see you here, too!
Zoey, I'm afraid you have miserably failed this semesters class in
Hiding #101. The art of hiding requires full concealment and that
fine point seems to have escaped you. Did you study hard enough?
Did you do your homework and practice assignments at home?
I doubt it. It will be necessary for you to repeat the class.
Below I have demonstrated for you the art of
Hide 'n' Go Seek #101.
So, she says this is hiding! I don't think so. Not when
my face is plastered all over her front and back. However,
it is too sweet a face to be hidden away, don't'cha think?

PHOTO HUNT: PAINTED

THE ADVENTURES OF ZOEYPAWS SAWYER
"with a wink and a tail-wag to Mark Twain"
Once upon a time, in the 1800s, I lived in a little village called
St. Petersburg, in Missouri, on the banks of the Mississippi River.
My cousin was named TomCat Sawyer, and he was known to be the
village "bad cat". At times, I could be mischievous too.
Once when TomCat was especially naughty, our
Aunt PollyPurrs said he had to whitewash the fence as
his punishment. No Temptations for him that day!
But instead, TomCat got together with his really wicked
whiskered friend, HuckFurrocious Finn. They stole an
old dinghy and drifted away down river in search of
feline adventures. I didn't want TomCat to be in more
trouble whenever he came home, so I went off to
Aunt PollyPurrs house to whitewash her fence.
Perhaps I got a bit carried away that day.
But then I am a colorful cat.
I prefer a colorfully painted fence!

5.15.2009

I had not yet completed my morning ablutions. My eye make up wasn't on, my furs not combed. I hadn't even had my first cup 'o nip, which I like with one cream and two sugars please. The doorbell rang. Who could it be? I am nekked. A nekked lady cannot answer the door. I move slowly past my cat tree. There I catch a glimpse of my peggy-blankie. Ah ha, I say to myself. I pull the peggy-blankie over my little nekked body... I move slowly toward the front door...

NATIONAL STRAW HAT DAY

I don't care "what" day it is,
don't you dare put that on my head!
And on the opposite side of the spectrum...
Here I am in my favorite straw hat,
admiring pictures of myself in
my favorite straw hat.
As you can see, I can change the flower on
my favorite straw hat -
a color for each day of the week!
Guess that's why it's
my favorite straw hat.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Last Sunday, our Zoolatry parents daughter and her husband came for dinner. They often come for Sunday dinner as they live very near to us. Last Sunday was also Mother's Day and they brought something very special with them. Yes, they brought some lovely flowers. But the flowers were not the "something special".
After dinner, the daughter was reading a book and then fell asleep in the big chair. I went to check out the book she was reading. I needed to ask Maggy to come over and read the title to me, because I am not too far along with my reading skills yet.
After Maggy read the book title, we both were very excited and agreed that the "something special" they brought with them was very, very special indeed.
The Zoolatry Human is very happy and very thankful.

TMI

It's common knowledge that Maggy and I do not get along. We do not play, eat, cuddle, groom or sleep with one another. We chase and whap each other sometimes, that's it. But recently, the Zoolatry Human set up her ironing board (a rare thing). She then ignored it for many days as she found things to do other than ironing. Maggy commandeered it, she thought it was her "new best place". Sometimes if Mag was on the porch, I would get up there. Then one evening, there I was, happily resting on it when the Magster decides she wants to get up there too! "Amazing", said our Human, "will wonders never cease. There they are, side by side." So, out came her camera. Little did I know that in the next few moments things would change... something new was in the air...
Needless to say, but I'll say it anyway: I do not think I'll share this "new best place" spot with Maggy anytime again...
