GUEST BLOGGER, DAY 4

Today is the last day for our visiting Guest Blogger.
Today is also Wordy Wednesday.
Here is our little feral kitty, once upon a time called DESI.
And if you're curious like a cat about "how he got his name" ~ his new name, YODA...
all you have to do is look closely at his marvelous ears
and scroll thru all three photos below.

GUEST BLOGGER, DAY 3

It's Tuxie Tuesday ~ here's Lacey on the front porch, enjoying
the cat tree Maggy and Zoey "donated".
And here she is through the window.
Guess who's coming to dinner?  Lacey brought a friend one evening!
On our airboat ride through the St. Johns we saw a "friend" we
hope Lacey NEVER brings to dinner!
An Ais Indian Burial Mound in the St. Johns wetlands.
A protected area, the Ais Indians settled this area long before the Seminole.
And lest you think you'd find artifacts, bones or such here ~ the "burial mound"
was where the Indians traveled to, by canoe, to dispose of
waste and garbage.  It was "buried" there.

Photos by Isabel (all but one, of course).
Tomorrow: the last day for our Guest Blogger.
Learn how and why Desi was renamed Yoda.

GUEST BLOGGER

For the next few days, Zoolatry will be hosted by a very special "guest blogger".  My beautiful, amazing, super sweet and very smart granddaughter Isabel spent last week with us.  She fell in love with our "feral family" and I think she loaded Gramma's computer with about 200 new pictures!  With her steady hands and sharp eyes (and good heart) she captured them all "at their best".  So for the next few days, we hope you'll enjoy her photos.  And by the way, she renamed the little ones ~ they are now officially Lacey and Yoda.  We start today with one of her "photoshop" collages (yes, Gramma has been teaching her photoshop...).

PHOTO HUNT: CARDS

If Zoolatry were a deck of CARDS,
it's quite easy to know who would be the Joker
and who would be the Queen of Hearts.

FRIENDS FRIDAY

It is always "very special" when the ZH reads us comments from
"new friends".  Well, at least they are new to us.  So today, for Friends Friday,
here are three beautiful stripey-kitties that we have recently met.
Aren't they sweet?  There's a link under each picture so you can visit.

MAGGY MONDAY with ZOEY, The Visitor

Yes, sadly, I am still nekked.
The ZH says she always furgets how little I am (well, how little we both
are), until we get our summer cuts.  I'm just a tiny little lady,
all 6 1/4 pounds of me!  But every ounce soft and sweet, she says.
And I'm still nekked, too.  So I'm curling up tight to nap cause
it keeps me warmer.  And by the way, Maggy... the ZH says that
I am soft and sweet, too!

INTERNATIONAL BOX DAY

It began 3 years ago as International Cat In A Box Day.
Realizing so many of our wonderful woofies friends also enjoyed boxes,
last year the event became International Box Day
And now its time for the Third Annual Event!
The rules are simple: on Thursday, June 30 just post to your own blog,
any - or - all photos of your kitties and woofies enjoying
their "boxes".  The more the better!
Be sure to include a link to your blog on
so all can visit!
Any and all taking part in the event, are welcome to
grab a sidebar TAG from below.  Different sizes are offered to
fit different blog templates.
Large is 300 pixels wide; Medium is 225 pixels; Small is 150 pixels.

NEKKED KITTIES DISCUSS NEKKEDNESS

 NEKKED-KITTY #1
"Well, I'm so glad to see the humans gave you a summer cut, too!
Now I'm not the only nekked kitty in the house."
 NEKKED-KITTY #2
"Well, I fought the good fight.  As you can see, I did not win.
I wonder if my dear friend Bhu will still care about me."
 NEKKED-KITTY #1
"I don't know.  It doesn't appear to me that your tail is quite
as full and floofy as my tail."
NEKKED-KITTY #2
"Touch my tail one more time and you won't have a tail!"
NEKKED-KITTY #1
"What?  Who?  Not me!"

Authors Note: Nekked-Kitty #1 played by the formerly fluffy Zoey.
Nekked-Kitty #2 played by the formerly floofy Maggy.

THANKFUL and NOT-SO-THANKFUL Thursday

This has been a special week here.  The ZH is so thankful that Ginger Jaspers
wonderful parents had come to visit, all the way from the United Kingdom.
She's also thankful they came
to dinner at our house one evening and we had a wonderful visit together.
The ZH is not-so-thankful that she caught an awful cold and had a fever
and felt quite miserable ~ and so she missed the lunch with everyone at
Port Canaveral yesterday.  She missed Carol and Barrie and Flat Jasper,
she missed Sharon and Flat Tamir, and she missed
Lou and Flat Max.  Here's a picture she "stole" from Friends FurEver
of one and all enjoying lunch together.  Maggy and Zoey teleported
over to take her place.  The ZH would like to think that the
"empty chair" was meant for her.  If you'd like to see more pictures,
just click the link to Friends FurEver below the photo.

GOOD FRIENDS

The ZH is all excited and jumping and acting like a "cat with the crazies" today!
Why, you ask?  Well, here's an old pic of me and my friend Ginger Jasper,
and guess what ... my ZH and Poppy Vic are getting to meet
Jasper's parents tonight!  Here they are in Florida ... come
all the way from merry old England.
Yes, she's really excited...

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Will you disable to help the disabled?
You may not know there are a number of active bloggers who live with some form of disability.  For example, Carly ~ the human owned by TIA of CUDDLES and CATNIP suffers from blindness, making blog visiting and commenting often difficult.  Our own ML ~ who is managed by KC and the SHERWOOD BUNCH has continuing back problems which often prevent her from sitting at a computer for any length of time.  And Ann, the Zoolatry Human, has hand tremors which affect her typing ability more often than not.  For each of us, and for many others, commenting can be difficult ~ especially if we must also complete "word verification", type in our email address, or type in our blog link ~ all before being allowed to comment.
Once upon a time, in the early days of Google Blogspot, word verification and such were the only controls we all had against "spam".  How, Blogspot offers automatic spam control.  We're not sure how WordPress or other blog sites work ~ but all in all, it will be a really big help to many of us if you can "disable to help the disabled".  Certainly, word verification no longer provides any protection to your blog and could easily be removed from your settings.  And perhaps there are other elements that could also be removed.  Check it out.
Many of us would love to comment more often, but we are either slowed down, or hindered or stopped entirely by these added controls.
So ~ please take a look at the current settings for your blog.  Are they really needed?  Please consider updating these settings, if you are comfortable doing so ~ it will help!  Thanks!

SUNDAY ART GALLERY

Zoey, our artist-in-training, loves to "paint by numbers".
Here from our archives are some of her works.
Most of these were orginally posted,
along with many others
on our other blog,

PHOTO HUNT: TRIANGLES

Some years ago, when my adorable granddaughter was learning to ski,
she was taught the "snowplow".
Ideally, with the "snowplow" the skis will form a triangle
allowing the skier to come to a gentle and easy stop.
Sometimes her ski's would form triangles and
sometimes her legs would form TRIANGLES.

FRIENDS FRIDAY ~ FERAL FAMILY

The Zoolatry Family took a vote ~ results were "2 for and 2 against".
Being as the "2 for" votes were from the adults in the family,
their votes were weighted accordingly.  Why were we voting?
Well, the suggestion was made that Maggy and Zoey "give up" one of their
cat trees ~ that they "donate" it to Carlacita and her two babies.
We've "named" the babies ~ Lucy and Desi.  One is a tuxie like Mom,
and the other all black like their Dad.
As seen here, they appreciated the gift!  And there are assorted toys just
out of sight that are being equally appreciated.

MEEZER COLORS DAY 2011

Today is Meezer Colors Day, sponsored by
Egypt and The Musketeers from Cat Crossings.
And here's Maggy ~ an honorary meezer.
Himalayan cats are a genetic crossing of Siamese and Persian.
The Himalayan became "official" in 1957,
when recognized by the ACFA and CFA.
The mask, ears, legs and tail of a "himmie" should be a darker shade,
blending with ease into the body colors.  The primary body color should
be a pale or pastel rendering of the point color.
Maggy is a tortie-point Himalayan ~ a very dark mask, almost black,
touches of red-gold behind her ears and at her paws,
and dark browns becoming pale beige as the furs move from head to body.
Her color points are definitely from her Siamese ancestry, as are her
brilliant blue eyes.  Her cobby body and long furs reflect her Persian heritage.
Below, a collage of all her beautiful and colorful parts
and all those beautiful parts put together!

Please stop by and visit Miss Egypt and The Musketeers,
Miss Midnight, Maxie and Tuxie
at Cat Crossings today and help celebrate Meezer Colors Day 2011.
PS ~ other Meezers celebrating today are Sammy, Miles,
Nicky, Billy, Caroline, Fiona, Sabrina, Sam and Simon,
Cheysuli, Junior, Sparkle,
and Friends FurEver.

PAW and ORDER

Lately, the back porch has looked more like a parking garage of sorts.
Of course, when a new vehicle arrived ...
it was incumbent upon Zoey to check it out.
Tinker, tinker ~ engine looks good.
Trunk supplied with necessary equipment and tools.
Yes, all is "in order" for the offurcer on duty today.
Mmm, some Temptations crumbs were left here ... evidence of ... ?
But all in all, she's road-worthy and good to go.
HEY!  I didn't know "the kid" would be taking her out ~ what's up here?
Does he have a license?  And what kind of offurcer is he?
PS for any viewers who may have noticed ~ yes, little Miss ZoZo has
recently had a trim, quite a trim in fact ... little lioness!
