OUR PRETTY GIRLS

Zoey had a good visit with Dr. Vet yesterday.  She continues on her antibiotics, but
her wound is healing well, though slowly.  Thank you for her purrs 'n' prayers.
~ ~ ~
Speaking of purrs 'n' prayers, there is an amazingly handsome lab, named K,
who is facing serious cancer issues.  Please visit and leave a word of comfort.

WORDY WEDNESDAY

The ZH says I am still walking a little funny. And she says my furs are all yukky and looking quite funny.  And she says I still squeak instead of meowing which is funny, and still have my toof sticking out, which is  funny! Now what's what with all this "funny" stuff talk.
I've always been a "funny cat"!
But she also says my "ouchie oowie" is looking a little better.
And she says I'm being a good girl and taking my medicines.
But she says I have to go see Dr. Vet this morning to find out what he thinks about my "ouchie oowie".

You know how those Hollywood-CelebriCats always want to be photographed
on their "good" side?
Well I told the ZH that's what I want, at least until I am looking purrty once again.
I guess I'm funny but vain!
So here's a picture of me resting after doing my blog post,
showing my "good" side, which is my "top" side.

PHOTO HUNT: SURPRISE (and a note from Zoey)

Christmas, 1978 ~
Alexandria, Virginia

It was our family custom to leave "Santa's Boots" outside our childrens bedroom doors (not having an appropriate spot to hang stockings).

Christmas morning ~
open the door, grab Santa's boot, run down the hallway to the living room ~

This Christmas my husband was "camera
ready" and caught the surprise on our daughters
face as she saw the Christmas tree and
presents Santa had left the night before.

YES, ZOEY ~ THERE IS A SANTA CLAUS

WE BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS!
I thank each and every one of you, from my heart of hearts, for your kind words and comments, your purrs and prayers, your support, and your generous and so very much appreciated contributions to help with our veterinary expenses.
Zoey will return to the vet next week, and again in a week following, to check on how she is healing.  The doctor could only speculate on "how" or "what" may have happened ~ suggesting she may have gotten stuck somewhere in the house, struggled to get free and caused the gash in her side.  (she has a habit of finding herself in the strangest places and predicaments!) Or perhaps while running about, hit the corner of something sharp (though having been room to room to room, we see no sharp corners or objects we think could have caused this).  He believed it either happened Monday, or maybe on Tuesday.  It was Tuesday evening that we first noticed her "ouchie oowie".
It wasn't until the vet shaved and cleaned the wound area that I realized how bad it was.  On her right side, around to the tummy, is an inflamed area about the size of a human fist.  At one end, was a deep gash about 4-inches long, with a loose and torn flap of skin and tissue.  She was running a fever, and the wound area was infected, though the doctor does not believe the infection had spread beyond the wound site.  Two options were offered, one being to anesthetize her, do a deep cleaning of the wound and then do stitches.  The other was what the doctor called "second intervention" and this was the option he preferred.  Because he felt it had begun some natural healing at the outer edges, he believed leaving it alone at this time was the best treatment and that it should heal on its own over the next week.  We have her on two antibiotics, one local and one oral.  He does not want us to have her groomed for probably about a month.  So right now she has long fur on one side ~ is naked on the other!  But no matter how she looks ~ she's adorable to us, and we are relieved to know she will be okay with care and time.

And yes, we do believe in Santa Claus.
He has without doubt, come early to the Zoolatry home.
He brought us gifts of caring and friendship from all of you.
We thank you.
Zoey thanks you . . .

HUGS AND PURRS AND PAWS UP

ZOEY'S OUCHIE~OOWIE

The little toofy-one, ZoZo, the Zoster, our Zoey ~
will need an emergency visit to the vet.
Now please don't think she's got cavities, er catities from
munching on all the sweets that fell down from our blog header ...
... she has a large open wound on her side. Normally, Zoey would have
professional grooming about every 3-months; she has some issues with her
skin and because she loves getting in the shower, the tub, the sink ...
tends to develop serious mats.  Unfortunately, we missed regular grooming
a few months ago because of family issues.  Now I fear this wound has come
about because of a close-to-the-skin mat that perhaps she has dug into.
It is raw and in danger of infection.  Last evening, she allowed us to clean the
area slightly ... but a vet visit is definitely needed for her.
Today, we must go to Orlando for the day, for Poppy Vic's chemotherapy
treatment, so it's unlikely I can get her to the vet today.  If she is worse when
we get home, then I may have to consider the emergency clinic, but prefer
not to go there.  Any vet visit at this time, will be hard to handle, especially if
they need to anesthetize her to shave her or treat the wound.  I have placed
a Chip-In tag at the top of the sidebar for any who can help us at this time.
Thank You.

PHOTO HUNT: LIGHTS

Christmas Lights Light Up Zoey
Photo Hunt has traditionally run each Saturday for many years now.
As of today, it has a new host and a new link.
It's fun and challenging to take part in Photo Hunt.  The goal is to publish
a photo, from your own photo files, that complements the category, then
you add your blog link to the Photo Hunt page.
(scroll down for our regular Saturday post, posted before we knew
Photo Hunt was back up and running.)

THURSDAY THOUGHTS

Zoey, you're looking a bit sad ~ what's wrong, sweetie?
Well, I see three stockings, hung by the mantel with care ~
one for you, one for Poppy, one for Maggy ~ but I don't see one for me.
I wanted to hang mine by the mantel with care, but I cannot find it ...
besides, Mags wouldn't let me help decorate the porch yesterday!

WORDY WEDNESDAY: CAT DECORATING

Hey, Mags, whatcha doing?
Well, my friends who stopped by on Maggy Monday saw me
pondering my porch decorating.  I decided to hang some fir-ry greens and
oneryments on the windows.  Zoey, you leave them alone and don't chew
on my tissue paper, I need it for re-wrapping!
Now what?
Well, you did the inside litter box, I'm doing the outside one!
Yeah, but those fir-ry greens tickle my butt when I go in and out ...
That's better than getting electro-catted by all your lights!  And I
see that tissue paper on your perch, it's all chewed up and wet isn't it?
Sigh, I wonder if I'll ever finish my decorating.  The toofy one
just won't leave me alone!  Look at her, trying to look all innocent.
I see that orneryment she's stolen ...
Well, there's always another day ... like Scarlett O'Hara,
I'll think about it tomorrow.

A LITTLE SOFA NAP

I took a little sofa nap.
When I woke what did I see?
A pile of fur like a coonskin cap,
almost on top of me!
Is it Maggy or Zoey, asked my friend.
Which one it is, I won't disclose.
Who's fur, just fur, from end to end,
fur, just fur, from tail to nose?

12.05.2011

MAGGY MONDAY

Watcha doing, Maggy?
Well, since Zoey is decorating I thought I would decorate the back porch, since
I spend all my time out there.  But I can't decide where to start ...

EASY LIKE SUNDAY

Last Thursday, Thankful Thursday, many of you were kind enough to help me find my red jingly ball, so I was able to start my holiday decorating.  First I decided to decorate my treat mat and bowl, I think having a pretty table setting is important!  I chose my jingly balls as they serve a dual purpose: you see, sometimes I leave a few treats to enjoy later ~ but often, Maggy sneaks over and eats them!  But I figure she'll bump into a jingly ball, I'll hear that, and I can hurry back and protect my treats by whapping her out of the way.  That was a good idea, right?

Next, I thought it would be nice to add a holiday touch to my litter box.  This is my inside litter box, and the ZH loaned me red and green lights for it.  The only problem is where you're supposed to plug them in, well, the plug still has these "little baby safety caps" and so it won't light up!

I still need to hang my stocking by the chimney with care.  But holiday decorating can be a little tiring, so first, I'll have a short easy, like Sunday nap.

PHOTO HUNT: RIPPED

The aftermath of Christmas day gift-opening.
Ribbons and bows, boxes and bags, littered about, missing their tags.
Torn, scattered and RIPPED ~ but fun!

FLASHBACK [WITH FRIENDS] FRIDAY

The ZH was happy when Eric and Flynn introduced Flashback Friday.  Being
lazy as she is, she could post "old" pictures and not have to think of something new!
Today though, we're putting Flashback Friday and Friends Friday together ...
when digging through old photo archives, we found several friends have their own
magazines!  How cool is that?  And with the holidays coming,
sometimes a magazine subscription can be a lovely gift ... so just check out
any of the links below the photos to read more.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

I've found my green jingly ball.
I'd be very thankful if someone could help me find my red jingly ball.
Then I could start my holiday decorating.
