HAPPY TUESDAY ~ AND ~

Happy Tuesday ~ and "thankful Thursday" even though it's not Thursday, yet!  I'm happy because all the big storms are over.  Yeah, we got really big boomers and those lights in the sky (not the purrty color ones) and muchly rain last night, and all that super scares me.  Yes, I am a scaredy cat.

At first, mine Mommy was sitting at her 'puter, reading some news and I was in my window rounder checking out the evening activities on Charles street.  I said, "mommy, look, a big black alien ship is all over the city", she said it was only a big swirling cloud.  But all of a sudden that alien ship attacked.  For a few seconds I hid under the table.  Then, I did the door-dash thing to my closet (luckily, she'd had the presence of mind to pre-open the closet door for me, I guess she knew what was coming ...).  Like I meowed, I am a scaredy cat.

June?  Don't we have something else to say?

Oh meow, yes ~ we are keeping paws together, each and every day ~ for so many families and friends all over those places far and wide in the mid-western states where these storms have been far worse.  Stay safe, dear friends and furriends.

It seems she finally got just a little bit tired of
sitting pretty!

CATURDAY ART ~ SKETCHBOOK

 SKETCHBOOK

Once upon a time I'd sketch with pens and India ink, using a photograph for my subject or even a live subject before me, but now my preference is to sketch with all the wonderful tools to be found in Adobe Creative Cloud.
The image above: LEFT, original photograph, RIGHT, final sketched image.
Both then laid onto a clip art "sketch book pad" to appear as if originally sketched there, shadowed and cropped.

To do the sketched image, many tools were used, some that I've forgotten, but basically first step was to silhouette (outline) June from the background, quite easy as the background was a solid tone, done through masking and a magic wand tool, plus a little eraser clean up.  Next: convert image to black and white, desaturate.  Next step: use different pen and sharpen tools to intensify her furs, and/or erase some furs, highlight others; add a small amount of "noise" (very small dots) onto her nose; soften/blur inner ears; erase tool for more white space around chin, cheek and neck.

All of this is kind of a "rinse and repeat" process.  If it looks acceptable, the layered PSD file will be saved; if not, there is a "undo" command and one can try again.  The layers can be saved as separate images to work on later, add or not add depending on whether you like them or not.

I always felt there was some similarity to painting with oils or acrylics in that you could "layer" over what you had done before if you weren't happy with it.
Nearing the end of developing a black and white image with enough detail to have a sketchbook look ~ the layers can be merged and saved.  A single layer now.

Now, add color (or not).  Percentages of sepia, pinks in her ears, light sage green in her eyes ... rust and rose to the nose. Color is often applied with the "normal" tool, but here you would use the "multiply" tool (in a % of your color code) because normal applies a solid color, whereas multiply in any percentage allows all the detail of the image below to show through.  How long did this take, perhaps 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours, all of challenging fun and learning.  Most of which I forgot promptly after finishing and could not repeat.  Each time the final image is new and different from any other done before, that's the way art is, at least for me.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

I'm not particularly thankful at this moment.  Well, admittedly it is still quite early in the
morning, the sun hasn't even risen yet.
However, I do expect to be very, very thankful within the next few hours.
You see, my official "tent maker" a/k/a, mine Mommy has promised, and I do hold her to
any and all promises, to make a fresh, new tent for me.
Quite obviously one is needed.
I will be very thankful and very happy with my new tent!

COMPROMISE, Part Two

I got the chair.
Was there ever any doubt about the outcome?

Should have called it Wrong Word Wednesday,
it wasn't really a compromise was it?

COMPROMISE, Part One

Excuse me, but you're in my chair.
Yes, well I'm having a snack and watching the news.

Excuse me again.  Like I said, you're in my chair.  Please move.
And, like I said.  I'm snacking. Watching the news.

I can see that.  I see the food.  I see the remote.  But I want to sit there.
You can sit beside me.

I don't want to sit beside you.  I want the whole chair.  It's my chair.
You can sit in your hammick.  Your cat tree.  Your blankie basket.  Your other cat tree.
There are lots of places you can sit.

I don't want to sit in any of those places.
OMC you are stubborn.

Yes I am.  I am a cat.
So.  So I'm supposed to get up and move? Right?

Yes.
OK

AWWW MONDAY, I GOT NOTHIN'

It's Monday.  Again.  Happens once a week, yaknow.

June, that's not a very interesting thing to say ...

Meow, I know.  But I got nothin'!

What?

Well, that's what I heard you say to your friend, talking on the phone last night.
You two talk 'most every night.  You're on speaker phone yaknow.
And after a long time I hear her say, I got nothin'.
And then you say, I got nothin'.
And then you both stop talkin'.

So that's all I've got today,

I got nothin'.

AWWW MONDAY

SUNDAY, SUNDAY

I'm planning on a easy Sunday, very easy.

Mine Mommy says she might do laundry this afternoon, or maybe
go to her favorite consignment shop (I bet she'll choose the latter ...).

What are your Sunday Sunday plans?
Whatever you may do,
meow ~ enjoy!

JUST ANOTHER FRIDAY

It's Friday, June!  The end of the work week!
Time to kick back and relax ...

So, are you trying to be funny?
The end of the work week?
Not working!  Not you, by the way.
You've been retired longer than, well, longer than just
about any trite phrase I could add here ...

now open this laptop and post for me ...

THANKFUL THURSDAY with a SMILE

It's Thankful Thursday over at Brian's Home Forever ~ and mine Mommy said it'd be nice if'n I gave
everyone and everyfurry a big smile and said "thank you" for visiting me ~ so I am!

Then she asked what else was I thankful for ~ well, of course I'm thankful for my foodz, even though she never gives me enough, that drats-diet-thing ~ my brushies, which I do love ~ window whiffies ~ toys, treats ~ my home and and being loved.  Now it's getting mushy and all, and that's not the real me, so I'll stop there ... it is a nice smile though, isn't it?

By the way, just before I posted this morning, I noticed that Maxwell (a/k/a MaxMax)
was asking about "nicknames" so to share a few of mine ~
Juney, Junebug, Juuuuu, OhNo, and the one I hear most often ~ NotYet!

And then it is rather odd, but I understand there are three grandkids and also
cats and dogs who came before and often (likely due to her aging mind or mouth)
she'll call me any or all of their names, none of which I respond to.

A RED, WHITE AND BLUE TUESDAY on WORDY WEDNESDAY

Mine Mommy went out yesterday morning.
Walking in the rain.
When she came home she had a pretty sticker on her rain jacket.
And she was holding two stuffed toys ~
one was red, and one was blue.

I thought the toys were for me, but they weren't!
She'd borrowed them from somewhere for a minute, just to take pictures of them.

Want to know more?  Read on ...

The toys were a red Republican elephant, and
a blue donkey Democrat.
The sticker from her rain jacket is now on the calendar on our refrigerator.

And she 'splained to me that it was Primary Voting Day in Maryland.
She said it's just as important to vote in the primary as it is in the
national election.

I don't get to vote (but I think I should!) and me and mine Mommy are
never going to tell anyone how to vote or who to vote for
(though we sure would like to) but we would like to remind everyone everywhere
to please vote in all elections.

Lots of peoples in lots of places
all over the world (and us cats 'n' dogs, too) don't get to vote,
but when you do, you should!

If the day comes when you can't, you'll be awfully sorry.

WHAT'S IN A NAME?

I often think I should have named her "Dotty".

AN APPLE A DAY

Do I eat enough fruit and veggies every day, Mommy?  Do you?

OK, got it outta the basket!  Will you peel it for me please?

THANKFUL THURSDAY

Mine Mommy and I were playing with my blue spring toy.
She'd toss it or hide it and I'd find it.  It was fun.

Then I took a little break.  I lay down under the table.
She said, "find it June".
But I couldn't find it.  Where could it be?

She said, "you're so silly, look a little harder!"
I'm always thankful when we play toss-or-hide games.
