HAPPY TUESDAY [GO FIGURE]

June has a three-level cat tree.  June has a one-level cat tree.  Of course, you've seen her in her blankie-basket.  And in her polka dot chair.  There's also another very nice chair, and sometimes she'll choose the bed for naps, or at night.  The little rounder is softly padded, good for curling up inside.  Why, there's even a padded bench in the big closet (and yes, I have seen her on that!). Both dining table chairs have padded cushions.  Last, not least, the plain old carpet could be chosen anytime.  

About that one-level cat tree.  It's by the window.  On each side, a scratcher box.  So, why oh why?  Go figure.  You tell me.  Please.  Why is the one on the left chosen for an afternoon nap?  Why is the one to the right also chosen for napping?  Go figure.  Well, maybe it makes her happy.

Mine Mommy suggested it was time for a no-nonsense, straight-up, 
do-it-right pose for the camera, so I obliged.
Little things seem to make her happy.

NOT NOW, JUNE

I'm always happy when I play with this favorite toy.
With the little ball that rolls round 'n' round and lights up and flashes bright in the night.  It's fun!

Apparently mine Mommy was not as happy as I was when she leaned out from under her covers

at 2:00 a.m., flashed that little camera at me (it's always under her pillow) 

and said in a groggy not-so-nice mommy voice, "not now, June".

[FINICKY] FELINE FRIDAY

It's not a secret that we like to set up little challenges for June.  As she doesn't have a big interest in toys ... and our apartment is small, limiting her exercise ... this is one way to "get things going"!

So, this little lunch-size paper bag has a few treats in it.  Out of sight of the camera is another little bag, with a new nip toy inside.  As I set these out ~ June was sitting on the day bed.  Watching.  Yes!  She saw me put the treats and the toy in each bag.  

Then I sat down in (her) polka dot chair, camera phone in hand, ready for the games to begin. 

I sat.  I waited.  I watched.  June looked at me.  June looked at one bag, then the other.  I waited and I watched.  June curled up and laid down.  June closed her eyes and took a nap.  I watched and I waited.  I got up and did the mornings dirty dishes...

THE WAITING GAME

There she is.  Taking my picture again, and being the good kitty girl I am, I am purr-mitt-ing her to do so.  
But you know what else is going on?  She's waiting ~ and I'm waiting.  It's our little game here.  
She's waiting to see if I'm going to knock this jingle ball straight across the room and go chase it.  
If I do, she'll be able to get a great action photo!  
So, she waits. And I too wait.

THE CHALLENGE THAT FAILED

 

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS JUNE?

I'm never quite sure where to find June after her breakfast time. She has quite a few "places of choice".  My favorite is when she chooses my lap for a few minutes of cuddling, but alas, that is not always her #1 choice.  Sometimes it's back on the day bed, or into the blankie-basket.  Maybe just curled up under the table.  When it nears sunrise she'll head toward the window to see what's going on in the world, perhaps catch some early birds on the wing.

But this morning ~ where in the world was June?
  I really did not see her in any of the usual spots.  
So I had to get up and search, just to be sure all was okay.

Awww, June.  Silly girl.  My cat in my bag.  Well, in her bag.

Relinquished to her well over a year ago.  That once very pretty bag that she

pulled out of the closet and made hers, enjoying it so much,

so I said, "well, I can always get another bag, but I can't get another June."

HAPPY TUESDAY "BLUES"

Before you scroll down to our regular Happy Tuesday post,
we'd like to clear up a slight misconception about our post yesterday.
First, it took place a week ago Monday (Jan 9) and it referred to a grooming visit, not a vet appointment.  

June is fine, she had her annual vet appointment last August, all purrfect.

No blues for June.  

Just following though ~ you'll read that Mommy has the blues!

And if you happen to remember that old kids show, she has no "blues clues".

Got up this morning.  Saw all this on the floor by the window!  Oh dear ~ is yellow the new blue?  Can't be.  Pantone said the color of the year for 2023 is "viva magenta".  Neither of us are especially fond of hot pink ... soft pink is just fine, but not the hot version ... but then, just after breakfast, June went off and up onto the window ledge ... and all was right with the world!  BLUE RULES!  Happy Tuesday!

FELINE FRIDAY

Mine Mommy thought I was tidying up my toy box, 
so she started taking all these pictures of me, "June the hard working girl"!
  What I really wanted was to get inside for a cozy little nap!

Unfortunately, once I got in there, it wasn't comfy or cozy at all,

just lumpy-bumpy.  Purrhaps I should have tidied up all

those toys after all, ya think?

 

A ZOOMING SUNDAY SELFIE, CLICK-CLICK

I know I get the zoomies, even my barking friends get the zoomies!  

But I didn't know that sometimes even the hu-moms get zoomies?  

Just watching a movie with mine Mommy.  

She had stolen borrowed my polka dot chair.  
So I was chillin' over here (see me way, way over here?)  

I guess she thought I looked sort of cute, and of course that "unmentionable" is always with her,

so the next thing I know, it's click-click and zoom.

Then she says, Juney, look at me, and she zooms that thing and it's click-click again.

Never satisfied, she says, how about a really cute look, zoom zoom, click-click.

You're looking so cute I'm just getting up and zooming myself over, 

got to get the best shot!
Don't move, hold still, look at me!
Click-Click!

So, being the good girl I am, I held still, I did not move and I looked at her,

A TALE OF TWO CHAIRS

It goes without saying that both of these chairs are my chairs.  Of course, you are well aware the polka dot one is mine alone and the other has my polka dot Ellen-blankie which also makes it mine!  Most evenings, mine Mommy and I will relax in these to watch a movie, she prefers the former as it has a foot rest.  In truth, I prefer it as well, to rest my weary head on the chairs arm ...

~  now we might also call this A Tale of Trading Places ~

So, there we were, she watching Ozark, me watching what I thought was a bug on the ceiling [not] when I saw her hit pause on the remote.  Aha, I knew what that meant.  Up she got, to the kitchen for a snack.  Opportunity strikes.  Before you could say cat-tail I took that opportunity with a quick jump to the other chair.  

As said, what's mine is mine, but take note that what's she thinks is hers is really mine.

A minute please. I'm getting out of my chair.

June! If you just got out of the chair the way you got into the chair it wouldn't take forever!

FELINE FRIDAY

When mine Mommy does her Dyson 'n' Dust Day she moves a lot of little stuff around.  We can't move the big stuff, but I guess she thinks this gives the studio a "fresh new look".  Me, I sort of prefer things stay the way they were, but, well, she pays the bills, so.  Anyway, this basket that holds blankies and pillows at night used to sit in one corner, I always ignored it.  Suddenly it was in another corner, and now it looked interesting, especially with my EllenBlankie on top.  Turns out a little change can be a good thing after all.  Am rather lovin' curling up in my new basket in its new corner!  

 

RESPECT YOUR CAT DAY

What else can one say?

She puts herself up there.  On that pedestal.

Not that she belongs there.  Not all the time anyway. 

Maybe not even much of the time.

Even if she thinks she does.  That's just the way cats think.

Well, let her think what she wants to think.

I do agree, some of the time.  Actually, much of the time.

Well, a lot of the time.

Truth is, if I don't respect her, she'll claw me.
