"I AM A RESCUE" by DOUGIE DOG ~ Remember Me Thursday Blog Hop
Once upon a time I was wandering. Much later, I heard that I wandered in a state called Pennsylvania. I was hungry. I was too cold, or too hot, or wet. I was dirty. I had injuries and sores. I had no place to sleep or rest. Most of all I was lonely. I know how this came to be, I know what came before. But you do not speak "dog" and I do not speak "human", so that story cannot be shared. And any story my humans today might share would only be from their imaginings.
When I wandered, I did find a friend, I'll call him Buddy, we hung a bit together, and we were buddies, though now I do not know what became of him. One day a lady drove down the old dirt road into the dump where Buddy and I hung out, she was a photo-journalist and she snapped the pictures above. I'm not sure why, but she "invited" me to come with her and I willingly went ... Buddy was scared I guess and ran off. The lady took me to a shelter and when she was back in her office she told a co-worker about me. "I found this lab," she said, "he seemed sweet, and I took him to the shelter."
The co-worker was a big lab-lover, but was upset because he knew this was a kill shelter, so he hurried there to free me and he took me to a better shelter ... a safe place. There they tended to my wounds, they cleaned me and fed me and I heard them tell the man they would try to find me a home! A home! Oh, how I wanted to have a home! But it was not to be ...
In time, the man himself came back to get me and he traveled with me to Washington, DC and brought me to his family home. I was there for awhile ... it was a little crowded there as this family had several labs and several kitty cats, and they were away a lot with business things. But it was nice, and I was happy.
Then a day came when they took me to visit another family. We went to a dog park and I met this family. They had no other pets, but they really really wanted to have one ... and it seemed they really, really wanted me. Me!
And so it came to be. A few days later ... me, and my toys and bowls, and my collar and leash got in the car again and off we went to Maryland. To what has become my Forever Home! I have a Mom and a Dad ... and I have a Best Boy ... and I even have a Grandma (who does this blog for me). I've been here for a few years now. I am not cold or dirty, I am not hungry. I am never lonely ~ I am loved. I have been rescued.

THE STORY OF MADI AND HER CHAIR
This is the story of MADI AND HER CHAIR, a special chair. When I learned that this dear, sweet girl had sadly crossed her Rainbow Bridge ~ and her loving Mom, Cecilia reached out to me asking that I design a special image in memory of Madi, the first step I took was to begin scrolling through Madi's blog ... Down Home in NC. It was clear that Madi was "queen of her castle" ... that she was "lion of her lair" and went where she pleased!
Here, there, everywhere ... yet most often to ... a favorite chair!
Yes! One special chair kept appearing in photo after photo after photo. So, in remembering Madi and for her, for Cecilia and for Bryan, here is our little pictorial story of MADI AND HER CHAIR.

Yes! One special chair kept appearing in photo after photo after photo. So, in remembering Madi and for her, for Cecilia and for Bryan, here is our little pictorial story of MADI AND HER CHAIR.
This is my CHAIR and my itty-bitty-kitty-stool!
Mom added a purrty pink towel if 'n I happened to drool ...
My CHAIR's good for climbing, exploring or a brief nap ...
If Dad happened to be here, I could plop on his lap!
It's my CHAIR!
Everywhere! Everywhere!
Now, Dougie Dog and Zoey, my furriends from Zoolatry,
snuck into the house down in "down home" you see ...
They boxed-up my CHAIR to ship it to me, cause I missed it so much
here in heaven where I be!
It's on it's way, it soon will be here.
And from up in heaven, a big meow and big cheer
will drift down to all on earth far below ...
from me ~ Madi ~ who loves you all so!
PS ... I'm gonna love playing with that big box, too!
PPS ... sorry, Mom and Dad, guess you have to go buy a new chair!

DOUGIE DOG IS THANKFUL TODAY
Oh yes, I am most thankful right now!
First: there was a week or more of heat in the mid-to-high 90s and the "real feel" up over 100 degrees!
Every time Wilson and I went out to play I got pooped out real fast. Ugh.
Then it was day after day after day of rain and more rain and it was so muddy I sank down in the
mud and all my Wilsons sort of disappeared in the mud and grass and leaves cause nobody could
mow the yard since like forever and the grass 'n' weeds came up to my belly! Yeah, for real!
Then we had a nice day. One. Just one nice day.
And my hu-mom and my grand-mom (the Zoolatry Human) spent the whole day with mowing and picking up twigs and branches and debris that came down in the storms and weed-wacking and raking and oh, yeah, searching out all those
disappeared Wilsons and cleaning them up ... THANKS!
But with all that stuff going on out in the yard and all that "equipment" they use (my hu-mom was wielding an ax)
I wasn't allowed out to play! It was too dangerous they said.
So ... now, you might ask "why is Dougie Dog thankful?"
Well, the yard is tidy now ... the heat went away ...
and the rain and the wind went away ...
so, c'mon Wilson ...
let's play!
And we still are keeping our paws together for friends and furriends down South
who struggle with continued flooding and all the problems and losses left from H. Florence.
It's Thankful Thursday over at Brian's Home Blog.

CATURDAY ART ~ FEED THE BIRDS
"feed the birds, tuppence a bag ... "
Ever since setting up a dedicated bird haven area in our backyard last spring, it's been such a joy
to watch our winged friends come and go. Many are regulars, others visit never to be
seen again. Photographing them is not easy ~ my camera has limitations, and of course, they
are easily startled. Here, the blue jays ~ big, raucous, blue and beautiful!
Top: just framing of a basic photo.
Middle and bottom: photoshopped and framed "artsy" renditions of them.
Today, we're showing off our "jays" at Caturday Art
sponsored by Athena and Marie, Athena Cat Goddess.

SUNDAY SELFIE
I go back to school on Tuesday, Dougie. I'll be in the 3rd grade. I'll miss you each day.
I'll miss you, too, every day, woof, woof.
Many children are returning now to their classrooms, and in some communities school has already started.
Streets are busy with youngsters walking or biking to school, waiting for their bus ... please use extra caution. Be safe, not sorry.
It's Sunday Selfie time, with our friends from the Cat On My Head.

CATURDAY ART ~ An Extra Sunday Selfie on Saturday
When I saw this photo on Facebook, I was so taken by it ...
I borrowed it from my daughter-in-laws page for my post today.
I loved this image, and sometimes (at least to me) an image is just too good to change!
That's how I saw this photo ... the lighting, the pose of my granddaughter and the pose of her
new puppy, Fiona ... both of them looking so intently at her cell phone.
Even the overall coloring in the photo and it's pale soft focus.
Even tho the picture screamed "don't mess with me" ... I still wanted to do "something" with it!
So ... this Caturday Art is only in my imagination,
just imagining what the two of them may be looking at
......

THANKFUL THURSDAY (Thankful for Wilson!)
Mmm. I don't quite understand. This "wilson" does not smell right. It's not stinky.
And it's not dirty. It doesn't have spit on it.
And there's no grass or twigs or bits of leaves stuck to it!!
This can't be my "wilson"!
Oh! What's that you say? It's a new "wilson".
You'd neverever allow the other, real "wilsons" on your bed? Why not? They're the best!
Really, they are, I love them so much. They smell just right. They taste and feel good, you know.
Really, doesn't every woofer take his (or her) "wilson" to bed at night, it's like my paci!
Well, anyway, I am thankful for my "wilsons", new and old,
(there's like 1001 of them in the backyard)
so I'm going over to Brian's Home Blog today to be part of the

CATURDAY [BIRD] ART
Still trying to photograph the many birds that visit our little backyard feeding station. It's going to take a lot of practice and a lot of patience.
And what do you do with a not-very-good picture of a lovely cardinal?
Just play with it ... play with it a lot ... for Caturday-Bird-Art!
