A STORY OF A CAT AND A BAG

This is a story of a cat and a bag.
It takes place on a rainy, grey day when the cat is bored with little to do.
And the cats owner is bored, also with little to do.
So the cats owner decides to create a game of intrigue for the cat.
She knows the cat will want to peek into the bag to find out what's inside
and then the cats owner can watch the interesting situation unfold.
And neither of them will be bored.

This is the bag.

The cat has come round the corner and pauses upon first seeing the bag.

The cat cautiously moves to the other side of the bag, looking away with feigned disinterest as cats are wont to do.

Feeling comfortable now, curiosity setting in, the cat relaxes beside the bag.

Thinking it had seen slight movement, heard a slight sound, the cat dares to glance toward the bag.

The cats interest has been piqued, and so the cat looks up.

That movement, the sound, did it perhaps come from behind the bag, wonders the cat.

Hey.  Where is the cat going?  Is the cat leaving?  Seriously?  Is the cat not interested in the bag?  Why does the cat not paw at the bag?  Knock it over?  Look inside?  See if it hides a toy or a treat?  Aren't cats supposed to be curious?  Surely our story can't end this way.  This was meant to be a game of intrigue.  But now it's just like game over. This is no longer fun.  And we're still bored.

And then there's that cats owner.  Still sprawled flat on the floor on the other side of the room with her cell camera and too many photos of a plain old bag and no cat at all because she knows the cat has gone off to hiding in the closet and is not coming back.

End of story.

DO NOT DISTURB

What?  I'm not sure I heard you correctly ~ you'd like me to get up?  To move somewhere else, so you can sit here?

Seriously.  You don't really want to disturb a kitty who is as comfortable and adorable as I am at this moment.  Do you?

LIFE IN THE SLOW LANE

Oh, good morning, you caught me midst my morning ablutions. I really wasn't quite ready for my appearance here yet, but alas, here I am.  Most mornings this week I've had much more time to myself for primping and pampering.  You know, what with her taking her time to boot-up and all before attending to me.  It seems that will be "life in the slow lane" for some weeks to come.  We will adjust!  Meow.

You might even say (though do so quietly) this has been a bit of a "lucky break" for me!

It's been evident that the cell phone flash is going off less and less ~ perhaps her bobbling about is somewhat inhibiting to photo taking?  And if you've ever tried to do design work on a laptop tilted sideways on your lap because one leg is extended high into the air, well, I just heard her grumbling "drats cats this just ain't working well".

IF THE SHOE DOESN'T FIT

When someone asks, I'll just blame the cat.  It makes for a much more interesting story to tell.  Ann

I wondered why Ms K. seemed so wary of me when she saw me during my hallway walkabout yesterday afternoon.  June

JANUARY 1, 2023 ~ THE NEW YEAR

We wake to sun streaming in through our windows.  A glorious sunrise over the Inner Harbor and the Bay and ocean beyond that casts a shadowing glow over the holiday decorations still hanging there.  Sun that casts light on June and she, too, glows.  A beautiful new day, to welcome a new year.  It is a wonderful world.

So I share with you my most favorite song, a song loved for more years than I can remember ~ "What A Wonderful World"

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom, For me and you
And I think to myself ~ What a wonderful world

I see skies of blue, and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself ~ What a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces, of people going by
I see friends shaking hands, saying "how do you do?"
They're really saying "I love you"

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more, than I'll ever know
And I think to myself ~ What a wonderful world

Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Oh yeah

~ ~ ~

May you find wonder in each day of your new year.

A SUNDAY SELFIE TWO-SOME

Mine mommy went to take an afternoon nap.  I thought it would be nice to nap beside her.  I curled up against her knees.  She was still reading something on her phone ~ but as it was a "special moment" with me napping beside her like that, she took a picture.  So, I swished my tail across her face to show my slight displeasure but she just took another picture!  Then I looked sort of sideways at her with that glance that was meant to say 'enough now'.  We really didn't get much of a nap together after all because I jumped down and went to my polka dot chair and she just kept on reading.  Some things don't work out as planned.

HAPPY HIDING TUESDAY

It's always fun when mine Mommy and me play hide-and-seek.
This time it was really hard to find her!
But I did!

ALL YOUR PRETTY PARTS

I am thankful for all your pretty parts ~ your coffee-stained chinny chin chin, your beautiful whiskery whiskers that I save in a little box when they fall from your cheeks.  Thankful for those big and wide eyes of yellow, green and gold and your rosey velvet nose.  Thankful for your ears that hear me call to you.  Thankful for your pretty paws, with just one pink jelly bean among all the licorice ones, and yes ~ thankful even when your nails grow long and sharp and may scratch me here or there, as I know you do not mean to hurt.  Thankful every day for all these pretty parts that together make June, Juney, Juneybug ~ with a face of many expressions who is June of Zoolatry.

DAY DREAMS

DAY DREAMS

Hey, kitty girl, where did you go?
Are you far away in day dreams,
gone to kitty places I cannot know.
When you look away toward nothing,
or nothing so it appears to me,
I know you do see something,
that I am not allowed to see.
Yet, if your little mind could only share with mine,
the mysteries of your world,
our life together would be more complete
with those mysteries unfurled.
I'd understand so much more
about you, my little cat.
Your needs and wants, your heart and soul,
oh, how I long for that.

A FICTIONAL FELINE CONVERSATION FOR FELINE FRIDAY

MOM SPEAKING
JUNE SPEAKING

Are you thinking I'm going to pick up your toys, put them back in the toy basket?
Yes, that's what I am thinking.

Well, I'm not.
But I think you will.

Why?
Because you'll get tired of seeing them all over the floor, and you'll just do it!
Nope.  Not this time.

Meow, I know you better than you know yourself.
Oh really.

Yeah.  You have obsessive cat order disorder, OCOD, as in O-Cod, you can't stand the mess!
You think you're a real comedee-cat, don't you.

Just trying to compete with Dani, she's the comedee-queen.
You'll never reach her heights!  She's got it nailed, the gold medal, the crown, the emmy, the oscar, shall I go on?

Uhh, you've made your point.  Still not picking up the toys.
Oh, but you will ... if you want to ever see those cans in the 3rd drawer
in the kitchen get opened again ...

Threats?  You're threatening me?
You know, I can give as good as I get ... these claws are overdue for a trim!
Now who is the threatening one ... PICK UP YOUR TOYS ... or else ...

Or else, what?
Oh, for COD's sake, I need to run Mr Dyson, move away while I pick up these toys.

🐾

Told you so.
By the way, when you're done, could we maybe have a little talk about my
litter box?  I think emptying the poops and adding fresh litter twice a day is not
to my benefit and I'd much prefer it be done four times daily, at a minimum.
Having researched this and discussed it at great length with others in the feline
community, I've come to the conclusion that increasing your cleaning and
disposal schedule would be an improvement for my well-being and comfort.
It would be more sanitary and I would have less litter-glitter on my paws which
I find quite irritable.  Damp litter also tends to create dingleberries
that as you know can be most unattractive, especially on date night.

OMC
Can't say the cats got your tongue, watch out as
you're on your way to being re-adopted, girl.
Besides, you don't date!

How little you know once the lights go out ...

SEARCHING FOR MOM

I told you yesterday was a "happy day", but that wasn't the whole truth, like nothing "but the truth".  I mean it started out happy with sunshine and all.  After Mom promised I could do my bloggie again for this luv-month, she went out in search of cat foodz for me which I've heard is hard to find!  Her two online orders are delayed, delayed.  Three hours and four stores later, she got back home, and she was NOT HAPPY.  Yeah, she had foodz, not too many of my faves, but then I mostly eat what I am served.  But she also came home with a hurty headache and a hurty backache and a grumpycat sort of mood.  I kept my distance, I'm a smart cat.

So once my foodz when into my third-drawer foodz drawer, she sat down to do some of my bloggie work, a half hour later I heard her meowing and knew something was wrong. Her meows got louder and were including some words my kittie-ears are too young to hear.  Then, she said "gone, all gone, I cannot find all the frebary stuff, all the balentines, all the seuss day art ... all gone ..."

After lengthy consultation with a smart friend who knows a lot more than she does, thank cod for smart friends, she learned she had to go up to the clouds.  She'd never been there before.  Oh, it was there on her 'puter, and it always told her it was updating and doing great things, but she'd never signed in or set up a pawsword (oh my, so many pawswords to remember!)

How does one walk around in a cloud?  Won't you fall through?  I was scared for her!  How do you know which cloud is yours, there are lots of them up there some days!  And they move by so fast!  What if mine Mommy goes up in a cloud and it drifts far away from home and she can't get back?  But she said, "I have to do this Juney, there's just too too much stuff we lost, my shaking paws deleted it all by accident and then emptied the trash bin without thinking, a bad thing.  I have to find it!"

But what if you run into aliens in space?  Or bump into space junk?  Or one of Elon's rocket launches ... we never know when he's going to launch for sure, it might zoom into you!  Hey, we watched that movie "Don't Look Up", a comet is on it's way, ya know!

MEH!

JUNE SEARCHING THE CLOUDS,
SEARCHING FOR MOM

PS: if you even took time to read all this (thank you) no need to bother commenting.  Mom got into the cloud.  Mom found all her stuff in the cloud.  Mom got out of the cloud.  Mom just had to vent a little about her un-happy Tuesday and how clumsy she was.  You would think she had no thumbs!  It took much time, errors and mistakes and redos, and created another head-and-back hurty, but in the end success was achieved and all is right in June's world, all is right in Mom's world and we are happy we had a good sized bottle of Aleve.

DON'T MESS WITH THE CAT!

What did you say?  Another blog break?  It can't be.
I mean really, you didn't even give me time the last few days
to visit my furriends or meow on their bloggies,
what's up with you? Do you know how upset I am!!!

I'm sorry, sweetie, it is what it is, stuff happens, things come up.
And I do apawlogize to my friends ~ and your furriends ~
for not letting you visit them, it's all on me, not you, Juney.

~ but, mommy ~

Too much on my plate, little one.
Meow, what does that mean, there's never enough on my plate!

Purromise, I'll do my best not to make it a long break.

I'm still upset, so don't mess with me right now.

SUNDAY SELFIE ~ HIBERNATION

We're hibernating?  What's hibernating?

Well, it's sort of a time to rest, June. To recharge, so
we're taking some time off ~ a bit of a break from blogging.

I do not need to recharge, I'm always fully charged!
Besides, what will I do each day?
I is s'posed to be on zoo-atwee and go visiting my friends, too!

There will be plenty of time for that when we come back,
I promise.  Until then, say bye, for now ...

O.K. , but I don't think I like this much at all, Meow!

HAPPY "TO BE BACK" TUESDAY and the ALIEN INVASION

While the ZH was trying to fix her my blog, correction: I mean while the ZH turned to a good friend [who had many more smarts than she does] to fix her my blog, I would lazily sit at my window watching the world go by.  THANK YOU GOOD FRIEND.  However, while peacefully enjoying the view and watching the sun strike the buildings here and there ~

We were attacked by invading aliens.  And I am not referring to the aliens who had taken over and messed up her my blog.  That's a whole different story.  I ran, over hill and dale [just an expression] and hid in the closet until she came to find me and shared the story with me about the "alien invasion" which I share below ~ read on if you dare!  BEWARE the alien image photo, cats in particular, your furs will stand on end and your tail grow large, do not say you were not warned!  And clawing the monitor is not allowed.

As told to me by the Zoolatry Human.  "June, little one ~ this "alien" on your window whiffing screen is called a CICADA and yes, it may look a bit scary to you, but it is not.  In fact, if you were an outdoor kitty, you would probably enjoy munching on a few of them ~ many dogs and cats do, though they will get upset tummies if they eat too many.  And don't let this surprise you, but lots of humans enjoy eating them as well, in many different recipes!  They're said to be quite good and very nutritious for those who can handle "bug eating".  No doubt if one were able to get inside with us, you'd have tons of fun chasing it around!  They arrived here just a few weeks ago and will probably leave in just a couple more weeks ~ but here is something very interesting ~ they will not be back for 17 years, not until the year 2030.  Amazing, mmm.  They stay underground for seventeen years!  You will be 10-years old the next time they appear on earth and I will be ___, well, that's not open for discussion.  One CICADA is about the size of a human thumb ~ not quite as big as your paw, but almost.  The CICADA'S that are visiting here now are Brood X and they are the largest and most widespread brood in the United States covering about fifteen states from the East and Northeast into the Midwest.  There are trillions of them right now ... yes, with a "T" ... trillions, and when they get romantic, which is the reason they're here, their music can reach to 100-decibels ... it is overpowering in many urban and suburban neighborhoods.  As they complete their cycle of life, the dried shells fall off and cover sidewalks, plants and trees, auto's and more ... watch out: one may drop on you!  But never mind, they are harmless ... not alien or scary at all really, but quite fascinating.  Another of life's small mysteries ... if you'd like to know a little more about the Brood X Cicada, CLICK HERE.  You'll even find recipes!

A QUIET DAY

This will be a simple, quiet and reflective day.
I told my story to June yesterday.  I had a need to tell someone.
The truth was it didn't matter a great deal to her,
but she is often a good listener if she doesn't fall asleep too quickly.
Unlike June, rest does not come so easily for me when stress, worry and sadness move in.

So we've agreed to take a few days off, which we'd sort of planned to do soon anyway.

June needs to work on her manners ~ I need to tidy-up the 2020 photo files, a tiresome task ~
and do some new photography of June,
she's grown a great deal since her arrival here three-and-a-half months ago
and we can't keep posting "kitten" photos forever!

We're always around by email, and we'll be back soon.
Prayers that we all get to January 20 safely.
JUNE and Ann ...
