MY CHRISTMAS STORY

Things can be broken. Hearts can be broken. Lives can be broken.
But we can put the pieces back together again.
Life does change, and life goes on.
I hold in my heart for each a Christmas wish that your memories
will bring a smile to your lips, not tears to your eyes.
If a tear should fall, may it be one of joy
for all you have been blessed with in another time and place.
And may that tear also be one of thanks for all you now have in your life.
May the goodness of Christmas come to you.

A LETTER FROM THE NORTH POLE (By Way Of Iva, South Carolina)

"Two-Two, do you think we should be writing a thank you letter?"
"Meow.  Yes, we should, Mommy Marg!"

Dear Deer Friends ~

I'm here at the North South Pole right now, keeping busy, working the work every day.  Doing wheelies in my wheel-chair!  Walking the walk with my jingle-bell walker and rather making merry with all the elves!  I even hung a few reindeer on the big tree out in the lobby (and then stole a chocolate from the visitor's candy dish!) I noticed the front door and considered planning my escape to home, but realized it was a long way in a wheely chair. They're thinking of naming me "Mischievous Marg", meow!

Two-Two came to visit, how sweet of her ... and my neighbors have been so good ... Ann, now the carer for Joe and Smoke (remember the donks) is here visiting often, Layton down the road a-piece helps to feed all the kitties back at home ... and others back home keep watch over the back-forty and the fields, and the house but ... oh my, how I am missing my kitties!  Don't get me started on that ...

Mom ~ you are digressing, sort of rambling, we were going to write a thank you letter, right? Meow!

Oh, Two-Two you do keep me on the straight and narrow!  Are you this bossy to all the other kits back home?  But you're right ... let's get on with it, the impawtent stuff ...

Where do I begin.  Well, the elves here are taking good care of me.  Even when I'm a bit of a grinch, which is only when I get to wanting to go home really bad.  I usually keep any grinchiness to myself tho!

If you were to visit me, you'd come into a room with more wonderful cards and Christmas Cards than anybody in the whole wide world ever got.  Really!  I am the most lucky woman, and thank you to all of you!

And so many stuffies, my bed is covered in stuffies, I love each and every one of them. They are such good company and we cuddle together day and night. Don't tell but we also have deep and serious conversations together, most of them have some very interesting things to say!  And I say thank you for all my stuffie friends!

If you've ever been un-lucky enough to be in a hospital, you know they are c-c-cold places, but I am lucky to have been gifted some extra warmth blankies, thank you so much!

Hospital food?  Need I say more ... well, receiving treats and snax and candies and fruit from you has made my day, many days actually!  Thank you.

How I wish I could send a purr-sonal thanks to each one of you, but that is not to be.  But know that in my heart I love you for all you have done for me, for thinking of me and making my life here so much better.  I am truly working hard at what needs to be done so I can return home, to my life and the kitties I love dearly.  Please keep me in your prayers, today and in the days to come.  I wish each and every one a Merry Christmas and a New Year with good health and much happiness.

With love and thanks,
MARG

SANTA'S BIG RED BAG

I have a big red bag for Santa, as we do not have a tree.
However, right now this bag is empty.
I trust Santa will fill it.
To the top.
Or purrhaps overflowing the top.
That would be good and I will be happy.

MEOW.

AWWW MONDAY ~ LET IT SNOW

I've been dreaming of a white Christmas, but Mom says it's not to be.  I mean we got up yesterday at 3:30 am and it was 55-degrees outdoors ~ in the dark of the night (or early, early morning!).  I mean we have yet to turn on our heat and she still keeps our windows open all the time, though I'm very happy with the windows open!  But, back to my white Christmas wish ~ we're not really "crafty" people/kitties, but she said we'd make our own snow ~ indoor snow!  So I put snowflakes on the wall ... and she put snowflakes on top of all the polka dots on my pillow!  And these snowflakes don't melt!  Awww ~

THANKFUL THURSDAY, June's 1st Christmas

Early October 2020 ~ June was adopted at the age of six-months (plus a bit) ~ December 2020 she celebrated her 1st Christmas in the Zoolatry home.  I was thankful to have her sharing this time with me, thankful to have been able to adopt her and thankful to have had her come into my life ~ and thankful for all our days together since.  What a special gift she is!  Today, we look back at a few photos from her 1st Christmas.

WHAT'S INSIDE THE BOX

When a box * arrives, it's common knowledge that the kitty(ies) in the house will gravitate to it.  But what about all that stuff * inside ~ bubble wrap * and air bubbles * get cut-up and discarded, or saved * for useful package stuffing * another day.  Now, more than often (and better we think environmentally) the stuff * inside may be crinkled up paper * .  Are you a cat?  Crinkled up paper * can be just as much fun as a box * .

It's the holidays and every home may have an over-abundance of * all * of this, along with gift wrappings * tissue paper * cards * and envelopes *.  So, please, * reuse * recycle * and dispose * of safely, responsibly.

WALK WITH ME ~ A CHRISTMAS WALK

A CHRISTMAS WALK WITH ME ~ for our walk today you can leave your cozy slippers on!  We aren't going far at all.  Oh, if we step outside for just a moment ~ across the street to the park, you may want a light sweater on, but our holiday weather has not been wintery at all.  It seems there may be no White Christmas in Charm City Baltimore this year.
WE HAVE JINGLE BELLS on our door, and a few touches of the seasons brightest in our studio ~ cards received are at the window.  Where I live is for seniors, 62 and over, so youngsters only visit ~ but many pups reside here and they come and go, now showing off bright red-and-green collars as they head to the dog park up the street.  Kitties most often are hiding behind their decorated doors, rarely seen, though June's curiosity has her wandering the hallway if there is an open door.
SO I SHARE WITH YOU the courtyard, sparkling day and night.  The windows that face both streets, lights twinkling bright.  Trees and wreaths and greenery fill the lobby.  It is warm and friendly here, all smile and say hello, it is Christmas as it should be.  And if you happen leave for a bit, you do want to come home.

NOW WE STEP OUTSIDE.  If you have read our Walk With Me postings in the past, you may know that we face Monument Park, lovely in all seasons but now glistening for Christmas.  As I take the short walk toward Baltimore's Washington Monument I see street lamps dressed in fine greens and holly berries.  I pass the Walters Art Musuem and glimpse the monument through a tree still holding her golden autumn leaves.  Note that the lower bottom right photo was actually taken looking down at the park from the top floor of our building, unseen are the parks that extend out from each side.

GOING TO A CHRISTMAS PARTY

June, are you ready for the Christmas party?
Yes, I am.
Oh no, sweety, you have the wrong hat on.
But I found this one in the box marked "Holiday Stuff".
And it is so soft and comfy!
But you're supposed to wear the red one with the white pom-pom!
But I like this one better.
I'll hiss, scratch and put the bitey on if I can't wear this one!
And Santa will put coal in your stocking if you have a tantrum!
OK, I purromise to be good!

Later that evening ~ at the Christmas party ~

Mom, Mom!  Look!  I gots my picture made with Santa
and here it is, just for you!
JUNE!  You're sitting on Santa's lap!  But you're so not a lap cat!
I know, but he had treats!

Can I go to The Bunny Hop now?
June, I don't think there is a "Bunny Hop" but you can
join the

DECEMBER 2021

It's December ~ a month to sparkle and shine.  To share friendship, hugs, cookies!  Many different events will be happening all through this special month of the of year.  It's important that we each remember that as we hear the music that surrounds us, see the twinkle of lights at every corner and enjoy abundant celebrations ~ there are many, too many, who may be feeling heartbreak, sadness and loss, rather than the fullness of the season.

Please reach out, show and speak kindness to those who cross your path each day.  Reach out to one you may not have connected with in too long a time, reconciliation is a gift to the giver and the receiver. Even though our faces may still be hidden beneath masks of protection, we can smile with our eyes, share a smile with a stranger.  It can make a difference.

Today, we share with you just a few of the events for December.  Perhaps these will spur your imagination for a post  ~ maybe on Christmas Tree day you will share with us how you have decorated your tree, or your home.  Maybe on Christmas Card day you will post the card you've created to share with blogging friends! Will there be a food drive in your hometown for animals in shelters, find out and help out!  And be sure to see if there are food drives for families in need, and gift or toy drives for children.  Bake cookies for a senior home!  The lists for giving, and the need is truly endless ... Santa may do a lot, but each of us can do more.  And remember ... always smile!
