CATURDAY ART and ONE SATURDAY CRITTER

I'm always pleased when able to capture a nice profile photo of June.
Generally, speaking I love all cat profiles ...
the big inquisitive eyes, the sloping, tiny noses, ears perked listening
for what we never hear.
Below, her image was then reimagined in
Adobe Creative Cloud using four different techniques.

DID NOT. DID.

Too many still see the world through rose colored glasses.
Wake up.  See what is real.
Remember that saying "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil?"
Please.  See it, it's real.  Hear it, it's out there, every day, everywhere. It's real.
Speak out against it. It's real.

And then there's this poem by Shel Silverstein, a favorite of ours,
we've often shared his works.
Here he is saying much the same thing in a different way.
After reading (if you do) think a moment:
Are you a "did not" ... or are you a "did".

WOULDA-COULDA-SHOULDA

All the Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
Layin' in the sun
Talkin' 'bout the things
They woulda coulda shoulda done ...
But those Woulda-Coulda-Shouldas
All ran away and hid
From one little Did.

THANKFUL FOR ~ ~

Hats on!  I like wearing hats.  Especially hats with words.
Lots of humans wear t-shirts with words, but t-shirts don't fit me too well.
Hats do.

This hat is my favorite. I think Justice Sotomayor is super cool.
In July of 2024, when the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of granting
Donald J Trump [presidents] effective "immunity", she wrote,
in her dissenting opinion:

"In every use of official power, the President is now a king above the law."
Sotomayor signed her dissent with the line, "With fear for our democracy, I dissent,"
without even including the customary "respectfully."

Today, sadly, tragically, each and every day, we all live with the results and impact of that ruling.

In a few days however, I will set this, my favorite hat on the shelf.
Though I will not forget Justice Sotomayor and her colleagues who continue to
vote for the rights of all of us.  Who continue to stand up, who dissent.

I would also note that we are very proud of the citizens of Washington, DC.
We the people are the ones who serve as jurors, and also those who serve on grand juries.
With the recent takeover of the city by the federal government, arrests (many frivolous and unwarranted),
with excessive charges applied, these cases are overtaxing the court system
as they now come before the courts.  It is good to read that
grand juries are refusing to return indictments in many of these cases.
Citizens, doing their civic duty and serving on these grand juries realize and
understand the prosecutorial overreach that is taking place
and will not allow it to happen.
Dissent.

It's time for another hat.  Fall is in the air, the calendar is about to turn to a new month.
Pre-season is over.  3-0.
Can you guess?  It's purple.  I'm getting ready for my "Purple Fridays"!

GO RAVENS!

ROUNDABOUTS and DONUTS

My donut. It is good for sleeping. Great for scratching.
For rolling my toys around in it.
Half a donut is good,
and a whole donut is even better!

Sometimes mine Mommy calls it the
roundabout cause I look round, or half round, when in it.

By the way, mine Mommy doesn't much
like roundabouts. I asked her about that. She said,
they're things you have to drive around, sometimes in big cities,
and she usually has to drive around them many, many times
before she can figure out how to get out of them
or off of them and
they always make her blood pressure go up, up.
No, she doesn't like her kind of roundabouts.

RELAXIFICATION vs DELULU

It's purrably been made clear here, more than once,
that mine Mommy is what one calls a "news junkie".
Sometimes she reads it out loud to me, meow!
That's enough to make me jump off the day bed and run toward the
nearest scratching post!

Yet, once in awhile, we do read some light-hearted fun news and
recently the Cambridge Dictionary announced over 6,000 new words
for this year!  It's sure going to take me a long time to learn all of those!

Our purrsonal favorite, we both agreed on this, is
"delulu".
It shouldn't be too hard to figure out it's meaning.
We suspect it can apply to so many things ... people (lots of them), especially
a whole bunch of them that currently hold office in government, we don't
need to name them ...

OK, OK, June, it's Happy Tuesday, you're going way off with this post,
get back on point, kitty girl or I'll have to paw in ...

Well, I just wanted to introduce my word.  I'm reaching out to the
Cambridge peoples and suggesting this word, my new word, be added,
"relaxification".

I'm visually relaxifying right here on my day bed.
This is how one practices relaxification.
It is the best way to avoid all the daily delulu in our world.

PAWS OFF! HAND OFF!

Baltimore, Maryland, USA

_____________________________________________

Read at your own risk. This is a personal, and political statement.  Paws off, hands off, troops-on-tour OUT.  I absolutely respect our National Guard and our military, however it is not their duty nor responsibility, nor did they sign on to needlessly patrol the peaceful streets and neighborhoods of American cities, armed with weapons no less (as ordered by the Department of Defense on Sunday, August 24).  In true times of emergency (not fake/false, made up, theatrical diversion emergencies meant to appease one fragile ego) our Guard and troops may be needed, but not now.  Not in Washington, DC where they are currently and not where the would-be-king is threatening: Baltimore, Maryland, my hometown.

My hometown, as with any city - large or small, is diverse, a mix of old and new, neighborhoods in need of assistance and repair, others thriving.  It is not unique, but a takeover of federal troops is not the answer here, anymore than it is in our beautiful nation's Capital city.  Or Chicago ... New York City ... or any other ...

Yesterday, our Gov. Wes Moore, and the Baltimore City Mayor Brandon Scott, had some choice words for the would-be-king.
Following, some quotes from a Washington Post article (8/24/25) by reporter Daniel Wu.  And we give a "paws up" to our governor and mayor for speaking up and fighting back, standing strong.  Too few are doing so today.

Moore, shot back by calling Trump "President Bone Spurs".  He'd invited Trump to Baltimore on Thursday after a news conference during which he addressed the president saying, "If you are not willing to walk our communities, keep our name out of your mouth."  Go Gov!

His office issued a statement noting that Trump is "a president who would rather attack his country's largest cities from behind a desk than walk the streets with the people he represents."

Posted photos above are my own, of the historic neighborhood
I'm comfortable walking in and live in.
Also the Fells Point neighborhood, Harbor East and Inner Harbor areas,
and South Charles Street business district,
taken at varying times: safe, secure, thriving.

CHECKS and BALANCES and ALWAYS POLKA DOTS

Today, for Caturday Art and Saturday's Critters,
we have a simple montage of June.

Balanced among checks and polka dots and more polka dots,
and she is, of course, the one and only critter.

BACK TO MY BLOG with FLASHBACK FRIDAY FAVORITES

UNDER KITTY, over and out.  In and about.
Guess it's kind of a wonder the under-kitty hasn't yet
tripped up the old girl ...

MY DAILY CALENDAR said it was time to start blogging again,
so here I be.  (And yes, mine Mommy still has this old paper back-up
"daytimer" one, won't give it up.  She says it's over 30 years old and
has all the proud wrinkles to show it!)

IS THE COAST CLEAR?  Come out, come out I heard her call,
only if no one is coming down our hall ... I don't like
visitors who enter here, so I usually hide 'til the coast is clear.

We see many furriends doing Flashback Friday and even Throwback Thursday
blog posts ~ and we'd like to encourage all to hop over to the FIVESIBES blog
and add your image and link.  It's an amazing blog, supporting the rescue
and care of these beautiful huskies, with great photos and stories.
Yet we do not often see many taking part in this weekly blog hop.
So, please take a moment, click the LINK below, and add your post.
Thanks.

GLANCING

Me, I'm at my laptop.  Maybe reading the news (not a good thing to do, but I do it anyway).
Scrolling through old photo files, cleaning them up, an endless task, there are far too many "saves" in there.
Side-eye glancing over to see what June is doing.  Often glancing to see what she is doing.
It's necessary to be sure she's not creating mischief.
Usually she is napping.  On the day bed.  In a chair.
I can snap a cute picture of her ...
Instead, what do I see?

Instead, what do I see?
June, glancing back at me.

THANKFUL THURSDAY (For One Of Us)

I open the closet.
What do I see?
June in her Lollimeow,
looking up at me!

Surprise, you surprised me!  I was just about to grab my shopping cart and bags.
It's senior day at Harris Teeter, time to do our marketing.
What are you doing in your Lollimeow?  You HATE being in there ...

I kinda thought I'd make it easier for you this time.
Don't I have to go to that awful dreadful terrible
I-Don't-Want-To-Go-To-The-Vet place today?

Oh, thank you Juney dear, but that day is next week,
you can get in Lollimeow next week and if you do it all on your own
like a really good kitty girl it will be easier for me ...
and I won't have to give you those pills that make you
all loopy-dopey-silly all day long!

S'riously?  No crazy pills in my breakfast bowl.
Now that is a bit of an incentive, I do not like the way those things make
me all loopy-dopey-silly, however ... little does she know that the minute
she's out the door, off to market, I'm outta this thing,
never to set paw in here again for the rest of my nine lives!

Your one free-pass opportunity missed mine Mommy.
So I'm thankful.  But she is purrably is not.

"COO-COO-CACHOO"

This is my little sea turtle.  I named him CRUSH.  Like the little green sea turtle in Finding Nemo.
He told me all 'bout how they lay thousands of their little eggs on the beach and
when they hatch, they run into the sea ~ if you and me and hoomans leave them alone ~ so
please don't disturb them, or step on their little nests, or shine bright lights on them.
And then CRUSH said, "coo-coo-cachoo, they run into the sea and life starts all over again", isn't that wonderful!

I so loves CRUSH
and all his turtle families.

Mine Mommy lived on the Space Coast of Florida for 23 years.
Green turtles, among many other turtles nest on the beaches
there from early March through late October.
To read more about this, please

THE LATE SHOW

June, c'mon, you know I don't like you up there by the TV, it's so risky.
What are you doing there anyway?

Well, I've been thinking.  When I heard one of my fave guys, Stephen C., was being tossed out of work soon, I  thought, hey, that might be an easy peasy 16-mil for me, help with rent and foodz, treats and toys, you know.  So I'm working on a plan to submit to those cbs peeps (it's the cat broadcasting system, right? they ought to love me)!  I have a big thing for pawlitics ... think I look purrty good on camera ... and I can be real "catty" at times.

Wow.  You sure are full of yourself aren't you?

What now?

After further deep thought and consideration,
I realized The Late Show is way way past my bedtime.

BEDTIME

Excuse me, June ... wake up, please.  It's time to go to bed.

We're already in bed.

Well, technically speaking, yes.  Let me rephrase, it's time to go to sleep.

I am already asleep.

Yes, I can see that.  However, I am obviously not and I think you can see that,
if you open your eyes, that is.

But I do not want to open my eyes, because I am asleep.  For the night.

Well, this is a conundrum.

I think you've used that word before, but I don't remember what it means, but
actually I don't care, because I am comfortable, asleep, and happily in dreamland,
chasing mouses and have no intention of doing anything differently.

Yes, a conundrum.
Final warning, kitty cat.  I am about to move that foot which your tail is wrapped around
which may toss you off the bed and, and ...

And I might wake and bite your flutterby-socked toes ...

I'd be thankful if you wouldn't do that ...

And I'd be thankful if you wouldn't wake me up ...

THANKFUL THURSDAY

CROSSING THE STREET

Yesterday I mentioned I'd soon start FURst grade.
It's impawtent to practice this one thing before I have to go to school.

"June, how silly you are sometimes.  You're not even an outdoor kitty.
Remember, you'll have your lessons and homework here at home."

But I can purr-tend and anywayz
I always have to watch out for those big feetz of yours
as you cross the room thisaway and thataway.

I still remembers when once upon a time you stepped on my tail!

TWENTY-ONE CATS

You know I've always thought I was an only cat.
And I liked it like that!

Soon I'll start FURst Grade.  OK, I still might need to work on my spelling,
but over the summer I did learn my counting skills.

When I got up on the day bed this morning, I realized,
it was already occupied by twenty-one cats!

That's right.  You purrably can't see them all, but trust me,
there are 21 right there behind me.

Now I think that is something to "MEO-AWWW' about!
It is yet to be determined whether that is a good AWWW or otherwise.
